July 11, 200322 yr There's something about setting your players up for success, they say. One appearance in 22 days for Allen Levrault, that the Red Sox blow-out loss... The funny thing is Allen pitched four scoreless innings in two consecutive days against the Mets just prior to this stretch. Yeah, he was giving up hits, but pitching out of trouble. Now he's got a built-in excuse for the next tough outing. Hopefully he won't need it. And now he's the "long guy". That's cool, no problem. Still better than Albuquerque, I'm sure he'd say... Not complaining as a Levy hometown fan, just saying that you've got to find a spot for a "stay sharp" inning somewhere within a stretch like that, you would think...
July 11, 200322 yr I havent seen him in Days! He has been good but lately he has been struggling and giving up runs.
July 11, 200322 yr Seems like McKeon prefers to see Almanza pitching than AL. I still think he needs to develop a change up.
July 11, 200322 yr I began wondering about Levrualt a few days ago. I thought he'd show up on the FBI's "Missing Persons" list.
July 11, 200322 yr damn 22 days??? i been wondering where he was, i dunno why he isnt being used i guess Trader Jack has lost complete faith in him.. or he must have done something bad. 22 days is alot... my question is if your not going to use him send him down and bring somebody else up... nothing is worse than someone rotting on teh bench doing nothing!!!!!!
July 11, 200322 yr Levrault and Ramon Castro have been abducted by aliens and are no longer avaiable to play.
July 11, 200322 yr Could it be that McKeon is trying to win. Play your best at all times and see what happens. I think McKeon has made some statements which some players on the Marlins should take notice of....especially the pitchers: a. Studying the game and watching how pitchers pitch and hitters tendencies (the article that did not mention Penny) b. If you are a reliever, stay strong and in shape because he was going to use them. (article re: Spooneyberger). In this article, McKeon mentioned how guys like Graves, Sully and Williamson all pitched 1,2,3 innings as the BP by comittee-like approach. Willy was ROY that year, with Graves and WIlly getting most of the saves. From my interpretation, McKeon wants more than one true closer who can come in the game in the 8th and finish the game. THis shortens the game....similar to the situation with Wagner/Dotel combo.
