January 10, 200521 yr Rotation: Burnett Beckett Willis Leiter Valdez Not too bad, I agree. The main concern is will Leiter stay healthy and give us 180+ innings this year. I think Valdez will be solid enough as a #5 to win us 10+ games. Both will be instrumental for our bullpen's effectiveness.

January 10, 200521 yr The Marlins have a great team going into the 2005 season, but the NL East suddenly became the 2nd best division in baseball. Atlanta, New York, and Montrington got a lot better while the Phillies still have good people. It'll be harder to compete this year than it was last year when the division was a joke.

Jones, Riedling, Spoon - all will be battling for that 7th inning role. Alfonseca will be the favorite for set up and may even challenge for closer if Mota is shaky. And I dont think Mota will be at all shaky. Howard and Bump, long relief. What we need though is that lefty specialist out of the pen. Perisho would be great to have back.

He's a valuable player......oh wait he's old...and he doesnt hit .300....therefore he's useless in your eyes.
January 10, 200521 yr Lenny did fine last year in his pinch-hitting role, imo. I thought he was swinging a good looking bat the 2nd half. Hopefully he can give us some timely hits next year.

Harris: .218 avg .604 ops NL PH's: .227 avg .655 ops (And most of these guys can still field and run) Because he's a character guy? Because he sits on the bench and never complains (why would you? You still get to wear a major league uniform despite there being a dozen other guys in AAA and AA able to contribute more to the club)? Because you want to remember that one special hit and forget all the times he killed a rally? He's dead weight at this point.
January 10, 200521 yr Come on.. we all know he swung alot better bat the 2nd half.. lots of line drives and what have you. .243 with a .680 OPS in the 2nd half is pretty good for a PH according to your stats.
