January 12, 200521 yr Credit: foxsports.com The Nationals are making a push for right-hander Esteban Loaiza, who is perhaps the best remaining free-agent pitcher. The Rangers, Padres, Astros, Devil Rays and Orioles also have shown varying levels of interest in Loaiza. The Dodgers were prepared to sign Loaiza to a two-year deal for approximately $9 million before they turned to Derek Lowe. Is this true? If so, I'd gladly shell out $9 mil for a 2 year deal. I think he's got something to prove after the collapse in NYC...
January 12, 200521 yr A one year 4 to 6 million will do the trick. Anything beyond that is pure madness. Maybe even less... :shifty
January 12, 200521 yr I'd rather have Valdez at less than a mil than Looza for 5 mil 653813[/snapback] I'd rather have Valdez at a mil than Loaiza for anything above 2.5 mil
January 12, 200521 yr We already have 10 pitchers signed to guaranteed major league contracts, not including Alfonseca. What would be the point of adding another?
January 12, 200521 yr loaiza for 5-6 million a year is only viable if we have to trade burnett. thats adds a starting pitcher with major league experience. not to mention he was great in 2003, and theres no reason to say he wont be solid here.
January 12, 200521 yr I think Loaiza would be a good pickup but right now I'd rather sign Delgado. But I'm certainly not against us signing Loaiza.
