July 15, 200323 yr Author I'm pretty sure Mientkiewicz can play LF. What if we traded him for some prospects, have him play LF and then when the seasons over he'll be much more affordable than D.Lee so we can trade D.Lee for prospects after the season.
July 15, 200323 yr Bubba Trammell is realistic. Once the Yankees get out of his contract, we can sign him to a minro league contract like the Red Sox did with Gabe Kapler. We call him up and he gets the league minimum and we have the extra bat on the bench we need.

July 15, 200323 yr someone on the bench would be gotten rid of. Banks to the minors until the next roster expansion wouldn't be bad. Keep him fresh until the run.
July 15, 200323 yr I brought up the idea of getting Mientkiewicz about 2 months ago, and I even asked around at the Twins' message board to see if they were interested in getting Lee in the deal. Problem is, the Twins have an excellent 1B prospect (whose name is escaping me now, I think it is Mourneau) and they really dont need Doug M, but want to deal him to get something for him. He could be had cheap in my opinion, but what prospect would we give up for Doug? And more importantly, where would he play? Lee is at 1B and is better overall than Doug M. Now if you somehow got Doug and then traded Lee for a power hitting left handed bat to play LF or something along those lines (in other words, a miracle), then you might be getting somewhere. And Pudge, you cant be serious about dealing away Lee and Penny for only Doug M!! :w00t :banghead If anything, we need to look at some of the other hitters on that team, like: Bobby Kielty (bats both) .252 9HR 32RBI 238AB .370OBP .790OPS Dustan Mohr (bats right) .272 8HR 23RBI 243AB .331OBP .761OPS Personally, I like Kielty, and I would plug him in LF, maybe platoon with H-Worth and send Cabrera down. I think that may be one alternative to getting a lefty bat...(.238 3HR 164ABs vs. righties though...). But Kielty doesnt offer much for a left handed bat right now it seems...not more than H-worth already offers. So there probably is nothing for us to get from the Twins at this point.
