Beckett brought the good stuff tonight... 7 K's in 4 shutout innings..... and we still lost.

They showed the highlights on the local news just now and he was awesome, but our offense is total crap without Delgado in it.

At the same time, I think it is a good sign that we saw scoreless outings from Nate Bump, Jim Mecir, and Antonio Alfonseca (and Bryan Corey, who I assume will be somewhere in the minors). Obviously, if it were the regular season we would not be using 6 pitches per game (I hope!), and Bentz isn't going to give up 4 runs every time. It would be a lie if I said I wasn't worried about the offense at this point, but hopefully everything will turn around soon.

I'm optimistic the offense will return to normal soon enough, since they are as a group, too talented to continue to struggle for long, mostly since it is basically the same lineup from last year (except Delgado of course).

I wouldn't worry too much at this point. Most games they only have half our regulars in there... we have our regular cleanup and sixth hitters out every game. Not to mention that when our regulars do start, they're out by the 4th or 5th inning.

Jorg was calling his pitches!

Josh started with only fastballs in the first inning and started throwing the bender in the 2nd. I don't remember who was at bat, but the first curve he threw was a beauty that dropped right in there and froze the batter for called strike three.

For the 3rd and 4th innings he had a nice mixture of pitches and got called strike 3s on both the curve and fastball.

It was funny that he was pleading with Jack to bring him back out in the 5th...but Jack just shook his hand and congratulated him for a nice outing.

Bentz did look hittable and pitched himself into some trouble. However he would have been out of the inning with no damage had Stokes not stutter stepped on a routine ball to first, and then ended up with a late throw to Bentz. Choi beat out the play and the Dodgers went on to score 4 times.

Stokes has been unimpressive both at the plate and in the field so far.
