March 11, 200521 yr Just got back from the game, and here are my "in person" observations (note: I had to leave early to meet my brother; I left when it was 7-7 with Lowell at bat): 1) Cabrera looks like he's gotten bigger, and he was switched on today. Great AB's, jumping on high fastballs (it really looked like he was trying to be more selective). 2) Delgado just looked lost his first AB (it was against a lefty), and he got bitched by curve-balls. 3) Lowell and Luis both showed off some leather in the first inning (Lowell robbed Sosa of at least a double) 4) Leiter's box-score isn't indicative of his stuff; in the first he went mostly cutter/fastball, but in the second he started experimenting more with his changeup and what looked to be an in-between slider/curve. 5) Hermida's got a beautiful swing (only if I saw one at-bat of his ). 6) (This is for RFerry and Ramp) Willingham had two fantastic AB's (working the count and fouling off a ton of pitcher's pitches), and he was robbed of a single up the middle by the pitcher just making a self-defense move. 7) Encarnacion screwed up on a hit and run in the first, but had a great second at bat (would have been out, but he hit it opposite field with the wind blowing in from right...I mean, it died right at the wall). 8) AJ's fastball was electric in the one inning I saw him work, and his curve had a really sharp break to it. That's about it; I wish I could have stayed longer, but I was impressed with what I saw. Our offense looks good, and I'm now sold on Willingham (but I still maintain he'll be more valuable to us in trade than on the bench).
March 11, 200521 yr Author LoDuca isn't going anywhere, we let DiFelice catch over Willingham, but he (Willingham) could see some time in right this year, I mean, he started the game in right.
March 11, 200521 yr If Mark Little's last name was Krusher, would we be paying more attention to him? 4 for 4 today (3/11) and good defense.

He's even more blocked that Willingham, so don't get expectations too high...
March 12, 200521 yr I was at today's game. It was a great atmosphere. I was sitting even with the 1st base. Mark Little had two very nice line drives. He also showed off some glove in the outfield with a great diving catch. The most humorous time of the game was when Orioles minor league 1st baseman was in the game, his name is Walter Young. The guy is HUGE. He must be 6'6" 270. We were all telling him to steal second etc. Delgado's second AB was nearly a homer to left center, the ball just died at the track. AGon had some nice rips, he hit a foul ball just left of the foul pole, wouldve been a homer. Luis had a great game. Cabrera's first AB, he hit a line drive to the WARNING TRACK, literally didnt hit the floor until it hit the warning track. Cabs' homer was nice too, you could tell it was a homer from the start. AJ was phenominal. I think he gave up one hit and only two runners in 5 innings. It was great to see the infield playing, Delgado, Lowell, AGON, and Luis. All in all it was a great game and a great day to watch a ball game. This was my second Spring Training game, and Cabs has homered in both, I must be good luck. :whistle

March 12, 200521 yr Thanks for the nice report Swifty. I'm heading over to the game today against the Nationals...sitting right behind the plate. I'm hoping to get my first look at Delgado this spring.
March 12, 200521 yr Wow.... you guys are letting Al off the hook. Experimenting with his changeup? LOL
