Posted March 16, 200519 yr comment_452578 So i went to the game in jupiter on 3/15. Just wanted to post a little story about my experience (its not my first time going or anything but some interetsing things happened). So IUm sitting in the bleachers by the bullpen and made sure to get the autographs of some of the guys oin the pen and al leiter who was sitting with them. Leiter seemed like a real cool guy, and this is the first time ive actually talked to him. During the game my friends and I began to chant MVP, when Delgado came up to bat. (And as is often the case in ST games, the fans seemed like they were at a funeral b/c it was so quiet). Anyway, during our chant leiter joins in and starts spelling out MVP with his arms. Shortly after a friend of mine asks al if he wants a brew, to which he says' yea bring me two' Leiter then retreats back into the clubhouse. Lou Ford and shannon stewart walk by to sign some autographs. Then there was a dontrelle willis sighting. He gets swarmed by fans looking to get autographs, and signs a bunch of them. However, he got annoyed and bitched at some girl, saying "I dont want to sing anything im just here hollering at my boys." The girl seemed heartbroken. D-train then disappears. I then started talkign a bit with les walrond, who seems like a shy dude. I felt bad for him b/c none of the people were asking for his autograph, and they were asking all the guys sitting around him. Todd Jones also seemed like a cool dude, he was heckling the other teams pitcher from the pen. His son was there as well. As for the game, i was impressed by Hermida who almost jacked two balls out of the park but were caught at the track. The wind was blowing towards home. Jorg also hit one to the track in the bottom of the 9th. As for our pitchers, they did great, valdez seemed rusty but he was ok, all of our guys had good control and walked few batters overall. There was also a great play by ford, throwing out a marlins runner at home, which would have been the eventual winning run. Overall it was a good experience, we then went to the bar across the street and had a few brews before coming back to miami. March 16, 200519 yr comment_452579 Did Leiter actually drink the beers? Or did he leave before you could give it to him? Link to comment https://www.marlinsbaseball.com/topic/26102-my-personal-experience-at-the-twins-game/?&do=findComment&comment=452579 Share on other sites

I also forgot to add that mota was sitting on the bench (by the pen) all alone, he was like in complete focus before he started warming up. He was letting anyone distract him at all. Some of the others guys were clowning around before coming into the game Link to comment https://www.marlinsbaseball.com/topic/26102-my-personal-experience-at-the-twins-game/?&do=findComment&comment=452584 Share on other sites

He got testy with some drunk spring breakers who said something to him that was mildly racist, but can you blame him for that? He almost refused to sign for these two older guys who were clearly autograph dealers, but he did and then he left the bench (this was about the 7th or 8th inning, so he'd been signing for a while). He's been nice and he was joking around with my and my friends. I guess it's just where and when you meet a person. I've had problems with Josh Beckett in the past but i know some people that say he's a nice guy. And IMO saying no to an autograph is perfectly ok, but the way he responded to that girl was plain rude. March 16, 200519 yr comment_452590 That's why Mota was smart at the game, he sits far from the fans so he won't seem like an @ss if he declines autographs. Either way, you shouldn't think less of a player because he was rude one time you talk to him. Alot of people get so mad if a player doesnt sign an autograph... Players do get tired of signing 100's of autographs. I know I would. Sometimes they are not allowed to sign them and players cant sign during innings, only between them  For that D-Train thing... he probably just had a rough day. Almost everyone says stuff like that when they are mad.
