I was in Best Buy recently and i found this thing. The guy at Best Buy said that this is an IPod without the name and a lot less expensive. Does anyone have any reviews of this thing or have any idea on how to get a cheaper ipod??

i don't know anything about mp3 players, but i do know they're giving away free ipod shuffles--whatever that is--on facebook.

The difference is the amount of music you can store. The IPOD can store more music than you will ever own. The Iriver can store about 15 cds worth for the one cheaper than the ipod.

 

However, Iriver has an FM tuner I believe. And you can view pictures on them.

 

I am trying to decide myself if I want to buy an Ipod, Iriver, or a RIO, I think I am going the Rio way.

The IRiver has many models, i believe they have one with more space than most mp3 playes. 50 gigs i beleieve.

I recently bought a Philips Rush--I was comparing the differences between all the major mp3 players--

 

IRiver was good, I believe-but I think it doesn't have a removable hard drive--meaning that if you want to download songs from more than one comp, you have to install the program in each..

OH, and another major difference between some players is their compatability...Some music files cannot be downloaded on certain players. For example, my Philips doesn't support music files from i-tunes, and it varies for each player.

Meh... i was thinking Nomad.. but i went with my Mini.. 2nd gen! came out a bout a month ago.. 4 gig ipod mini, battery life is great, 18+ hours per charge! thats nuts..

 

Also get this.. you can set individual song volume (for low volume songs) and a 2nd equilizer! 10% off at target it was 180, and holds over 1000 songs if you know how too be smart with packing your songs

Just make all the songs mp4s. Sound better and are smaller. Ipod is the only MP3 player that lets you store MP4s. I think I am going to get a 20 gig Ipod.

I was recently deciding for myself which MP3 player I should get. It was before the iRiver and the iPod Mini 2nd Gen. I ended up going with the iPod because the battery life is amazing, the color screen on the iRiver wasn't a necessity for me and neither was the the FM radio since I don't listen to regular FM radio much these days. I also bought because most of my MP3's are coming from iTunes and I just wanted a little more space than the iRiver was providing (I ended up buying the 6GB version instead of the 4GB one).

 

 

So far, I can honestly say that I am very happy with my purchase and have been loading songs on this thing like crazy. The headphones aren't much to brag about, but that can be fixed simply by buying a decent set of headphones. However going to back to your question, I recommend sitting back and thinking about what exactly you are going to use the player for, how much music you want to store in it and if you want any extra features such as a FM radio and such. If you feel that you do, then go for the iRiver. If you don't really need it, go with the iPod.

I love my iPod.

 

I have 2,579 songs and Im jsut over halfway full.

 

It has a great selection of 3rd party stuff, more than any other player.

20GB 4th Generation

I thought about picking that one up for the extra $50, but I figured that there was no way I was ever going to fill the thing. I may end up proving myself wrong. :whistle

To me it seems like the 30GB iPod Photo offers the best value. Nearly unlimited music space, plus you can carry photos, you get a color display, and you can have album covers. Also, it isn't much more expensive.

I have the IRiver. It is awesome. It has 40 gb, stores pics, records, has built in FM radio, even a notepad area where you can store typed files. And it has color screen as well. All for 100 dollars less than the IPod with the same capabilities.

The way they said it to me is that if anything goes wrong with it (normal wear and tear including the battery), that they'll replace it for three years. Also, if a new generation comes out in that time that I can bring in my iPod and trade it for the newer model.

I just got an ipod mini (blue) from amazon...But I'm willing to return it (unopened...it's a gift for my girl), if I can get it cheaper, and possibly get a warranty.

Well mine cost me $49.99 with the 6GB iPod Mini. I know the 4GB Mini cost $39.99 and I'm not sure how much the ones for the 20GB or iPod shuffle cost.
