Seemingly lost in today's shut-out victory is the fact that our Florida Marlins are now in a tie for first place in the NL east. So lost is this fact that so far not one tv outlet has bothered to mention it in their reports and even more surprisingly, here it is 11:16pm and this is the first thread on the subject.

All I can say is GO FISH! :thumbup

YES WE ARE TIED WITH THE NATS!

.....

and the Braves.

On a side note:

I haven't seen anything on ESPN (or any other tv outlet) pimping out any other division leaders at this point, because it is as meaningless as can be. (Could anyone even name all the division leaders off hand?)

I mean the Marlins led the division last year 2 weeks in and well... yeah.

Well, um, we're 9 games in, and we haven't even played road games yet. I'm glad the Marlins have fared well thus far, but let's see how they do up at Shea.

In 2002, we led the division sometime in June.

Doesn't matter just yet, though it's nice to have.

as fans, aren't we supposed to enjoy the season?

It is nice to be in first place. is not like we are going overboard and considering the division won.

5-4 is good, but not that much to crow about.

I'm just thankful the Bravos didn't run away with it and put us in a deeper hole. Looks like they have bullpen problems right now. But give Mazzone some time and he will straighten it out.

I think after 9 games, you really can't tell much. However, it is nice to still be in first place nine games after the season started. Lets see how they do in Shea this weekend and RFK next week.

We were in third place a few days ago. Yeah I know it's only nine games into the season but considering how problematic things were looking a few days ago it just felt good to look at the standings and see the Marlins on top.

what the marlins need to do...

theres 23 weeks in the baseball sesaon give or take

if they go 4-3 each week it will give them 92 wins and 70 losses and that will get you into the playoffs..just one game above .500 each week.

If memory serves me right, we were in first place for the first two months of last season as well.
