Delgado is better 1B than Derrek Lee.

Offensively. Would you dare say defensively? And how much better? Millions and millions of dollars better? You have to look at the difference we'd pay them. We wouldn't have needed to sign D-Lee for as much as Carlos, I don't think. Is that offensive skill difference big enough to satisfy you? D-Lee proved he is a 30 HR hitter in the Fin, and A+ defensively.

By the way you capitalize the first letter of every sentence. You know, just letting you know. I find it funny you point out people's typos and ignore your own. ;) Shows what the type of person you are, angry.

sweet, thanks. maybe i'll try it sometime. :cheers

^^ and yea, i repeatedly make that same typo myself... e-k, i-c-k, same s***. those keys are right next to each other.

Derrick Lee

2004: .278/.356/.504 32 HRs 98 RBIs

2005: .324/.447/.568 2 HRs 11 RBIs

Pude Rodriguez

2004: .334/.383/.510 19 HRs 86 RBIs

2005: .364/.378/.455

I wonder why anyone would want these guys. :plain

745515

DLee's numbers improved because of a stadium change... that and he hits when it dont count... ask most marlins fans and now most cubs fans

as for pudge, giving up a 4 year deal is ludacris

745536

98 RBIs is a lot of RBIs for hitting when it doesn't count if you ask me. And if memory serves me right he hit pretty good in Pro Player, at least power wise. And the man knows how to get on base.

How long did we sign Lo Duca for? Who's better? Also, what do you think about that Delgado deal? You can defend the FO on this case, but I think they thought they would be able to find replacements, and last year they didn't. This year we'll see.

745545

rbi shmarbee-eye.... Derrek Lee hits when it dont count. Sorry, you cant win this argument.

As for the Lo Duca signing.... I didnt like it(money wise)... I didnt like not resigning Pudge but at the time, Ramon Castro was looking like a legit catcher who was ready to break it. Thats not the front office's fault

Delgado is better 1B than Derrek Lee.

Have you been watching Delgado so far? He picks balls almost as effectively as DLee did. If Lee's defense with us was an A+, Delgado's has been an A-. Considering the gap between Delgado's offense and Lee's offense is significantly greater than that, yes, Delgado is worth the money.

As I like to do from time to time, let's take one out of the Book of Das:

Who do other pitchers fear: Lee or Delgado?

Question

At this point it is very easy to be a Monday morning QB like you. :thumbdown

How else would you liked to judge a FO? Only at the time? Because if you do that the sentiments on this board showed after the LA trade last year that we were primed to make another playoff run, time showed that not to be true.

And people like to suck up to the FO after the fact for 2003, whats wrong with second guessing them?

Delgado is better 1B than Derrek Lee.

Lets not go that far.... Delgado is more around a B+ :mischief

I was one of the biggest Vlad seekers that offseason, but it's in the past.

I have second guess them a lot, but not on any of these two.

"Hey Josh, catch this no look pass!" Aww nice try Carlos, that knocks you from an A to an A-. Delgado has 3 errors so far this year D-Lee zero.

Delgado, but if you make 3 errors every 11 games... well you do the math.

By the end of his contract Delgado will be 36. I doubt his defense will magically get better, and I am sure his bat will slow a bit. D-Lee proved to be much more than adequate in Dolphins Stadium, and he would have come cheaper and provided better defense. The 2003 Marlins and 2004 Red Sox showed that defense is key.

Delgado is better 1B than Derrek Lee.

Quiet You.

Phish, you were probably not a fan in 2003, or 02, or 01.... Derrek Lee does not hit when it matters

we know it, the front office knew it.... everyone knows it(but Sham ;) )

I didnt like not resigning Pudge but at the time, Ramon Castro was looking like a legit catcher who was ready to break it. Thats not the front office's fault

745574

Who do you blame then, the scouts? Someone had to decide along the line that Pudge was washed up and Castro was going to do at least okay. I bet they thought he would do better than what he did.

I dont blame anyone but Castro. The guy looked great the years prior to him being the starter. He gets the job and shits the bed. That aint the front offices fault. It aint the scouts fault. It's Ramon's fault.

Pudge wasn't washed up. It was a huge risk @ 4/40

Only Detroit offered him a contract.

Risk vs Rewards was heavy on the risk side

Well thats not D-Lee's fault, its Bill Robinson's... at least that is what I am led to believe on this board. :plain

D-Lee:

2005:

Runners on- .300/.609/.933

RISP- .667/.800/1.333

RISP w/ 2 out- .500/.667/.750

2004:

Runners on- .302/.387/.550

RISP- .276/.382/.531

RISP w/ 2 out- .230/.427/.410

Bases load- .357/.333/.929

Yeah he really stinks when he can get the runs home and it matters. I'd love to see how you spin this Mav.

I can read just fine. Here, read this:

Who do other pitchers fear more: Lee or Delgado?

No one shifted on Lee. No one gave better pitchers to the hitters around Lee because of Derrek. But, well, just look at what Delgado's getting.

745640

I am not spinning this in any way. I watched Derrek Lee leave men on base in 1,2 run games for 3,4 years. Heck everyone here did. The front office knew this(especially 2 of the big guys), we all knew this. I am not spinning this in anyway. I have been saying this for years.

DLee is a stat padder. He gets his bases loaded doubles when we were up 6-0 in the 8th inning. Thats just the way it is. I dont need stats to tell me otherwise. I WATCHED him do it for years. And I liked the guy too.

The answer is right there. If you don't understand it, that is your own problem. You inability to read is shocking. I answered the question a number of posts ago.

745652

No, see, I want a simple answer. You've been answering but spinning. I want a name, with nothing before, and nothing after - or is that not in your power?

Not even Shammy would defend Lee against Delgado.

you're really a dumbass tool phishphan.

go back to being a braves fan.

and then go here:

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlbhist/players/...75&type=batting

and scroll all the way to the bottom where it says close and late which is obviously when it matters and check out D-Lee's stats for the last three years.

745649

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/players/spli...78&type=batting

Go here and look at Carlos's and you tell me if you see a huge jump worth millions and millions of dollars over the next 4 years paying the guy until he is 36.

It isnt just about stats. Stats dont say the whole story. Heck I dont know, maybe Delgado is a stat padder too but his name alone helps this team out so much more than DLee could.

745658

But the thing about baseball is it is more than just hitting. You play defense too. If you lose meaning of words inside of a sentence I pity you.

The 2003 Marlins and the 2004 Red Sox were both teams with sound defenses. Having a 1b commit 3 errors in 11 games is not exactly the healthiest thing in the world. Carlos is better than D-Lee right not batting, but million and millions of dollars better? I don't know that. And will he still be better 4 years from now when he is 36? That might be stretching it.
