He hit his league leading 8th tonight in a 13-0 drubbing of the Montgomery Biscuits

game wraps as soon as the Topes finish up

Also in that game Josh Johnson dominated, going 7 innings giving up 0 runs on 3 hits, 1 BB on and 7 K's. He's developing into a very good prospect.

We've been waiting for this for a while. You saw it coming in the Arizona Fall League, and now he's really raking them out.

If Hermida keeps playing like this, do we deal Encarnacion for whatever we need (bullpen, starter) and promote Hermida?

I never thought TSwift would have an idea like this. I say NO WAY. I mean Hermida is the man but he isn't ready. He didn't hit much at all in the spring and he needs a full year under his belt. He should be our starting RF in '06. The only way he comes to the Fish this year is if there is a big injury.

Why "no way?" Encarnacion will be gone next year to give Hermida a spot, so why not deal him instead of letting him walk for nothing (because he won't be offered arby...too big of a risk), and by dealing him, we could potentially get Urbina...the Tigers want a CF, Enc can play center or fill in for Maggs in right, and we get a closer/set-up man to help our beleaguered 'pen. That trade makes sense for both teams, at least at the moment.

I understand that Encarnacion is playing really well right now, but Hermida could be even more valuable to add another left-handed bat to the lineup on a consistent basis, and with the way Hermida is playing right now, I don't see any reason why he (or a platoon of him and Conine) couldn't produce around the same level of Encarnacion. Now, this also is contingent upon Lowell coming around, because we can't deal our 5-hole hitter unless Lowell is ready to step up to where he belongs.

The reason I wouldn't want this to happen is that Enc is playing so well right now. I have all the confidence that Hermida will be a good player at the MLB level, but if Enc is playing well and Marlins trade him to bring up Hermida in the middle of a race for the playoffs there probably is the strong possibility of him struggling at first and the Marlins can't afford to have a struggling rookie trying to catch up to Major league pitching when they are in a race for teh NL East championship or the Wild Card.

I'd much rather use a guy like Stokes to get someone for the bullpen when the trade deadline comes in July.

I don't see Hermida up this season, but I thinkg it would be best for him to start the season as our starting right fielder next year, and I think he will be ready, he's been terrific so far for the Mudcats.

Speaking of Willingham though, Ramp, did you notice he's playing 3rd base tonight for the Topes?
