This guy is hitting around 240 but its a very strong 240 compared to somone like Delgado who is hitting a weak 310. WHat will happen when Castillo comes back. Easly has been nothing but clutch and has been instrumental in several wins lately, but Louis was also hitting well when he got injured, So what do to? Decisions....

Arm of a secondbaseman + range of a thirdbaseman + bat of a shortstop = back-up.

A quality reserve and a jolt off the bench, but not worth sitting anyone for.

castillo goes back into the lineup when he gets healthy, no question in my book. he's batting over .300 and his defensive contribution goes way beyond the boxscore. easley's done great filling in for him, but castillo is the better overall player and, at 35, you wouldn't want DE as an everyday IF anyway.

keep using DE as a prominent role player, getting him some starts especially for day games after night games, and of course some pinch hitting.

no need to take a potshot at delgado. he's playing well and is starting to show his power more and more.

When you look at both offensive and defensive contributions, Luis is one of the best second basemen in the game. No way you'd sit him for a guy like Easley who's a good backup, but not much more than that.

Easley is an amazing player not only offensely but defensely as well (not saying Castillo isn't either). It would be a shame with a player of his skills to be a bench player, just look at his stats there great. I agree with you he is better than Delgado right now in the clutch. So far, I'm rather disappointed in Delgado he has not come throught. The problem with him right now is his timing's off. He swings late and he doesn't have enough upper cut in his swing.

you'd take easley over delgado? are you nuts? Ok, i think we'd all like to have seen more home runs from him, but he's putting up a great BA and a ton of doubles - not exactly a lack of production. plus, his presence in the lineup alone alters the other team's game plan. and as long as he keeps hitting them hard and shooting out the doubles, the HRs will come soon (think of bonilla in '97), and are already starting to. trying to hit golf shots over the wall, unless Dolphins Stadium sudenly becomes Minute Maid Park, is the worst thing he can do. stop bashing a guy hitting over .310!

furthermore, a big reason that DE looks so good out there is that he gets a lot of rest. middle IF is a physically demanding position and, at age 35, if he had to play it every day he would be doing considerably worse than a 'strong 240'.

Thank you for speaking some sense -- someone needed to and I'm lazy. :thumbup

While I don't think he should start over anyone in our lineup, I think you're selling him a bit short.

Delgado is hitting a weak .310? C'mon man. Easley is great off the bench but not a starter on a championship calibar club. Luis is the man.

I agree with you that Easley has been a great boost for this team, but I think that right now he is just the odd man out and he will end up back on the bench when Castillo is healthy.

I'm sure Easley benefits from having alot of rest. He's a great asset to this team.

To me, Easley is such a great story.

All-Star, apparently washed-up, over the hill, Marlins take a chance and Damion is resurrected! He's my Marlins MVP. Competently plays about 6 positions.

He's not a starter on this team. He just gets the job done and Jack can get a Senior's night's sleep because whatever happens tomorrow he has Easley ready.
