Posted May 26, 200519 yr from the Sun Sentinel: The "other guy" was Logan Kensing, who got an earful from McKeon during one fourth-inning mound visit and was sent back to Double-A Carolina after giving up three runs and six hits on 72 pitches in 22/3 innings. He had an 11.12 ERA in three relief apprearances. Outfielder Chris Aguila was also optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque after the game as pitchers Frank Castillo and Yorman Bazardo were recalled. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/basebal...-sports-marlins
May 26, 200519 yr unbelievable a f***ing shame that Aguila gets the boot and why is Bazardo being called up?
May 26, 200519 yr Author unbelievable a f***ing shame that Aguila gets the boot and why is Bazardo being called up? 784239 It's probably just temporary -- they need the extra arm after abusing the pen tonight. If Castillo struggles, you don't have Bump available to eat up 3-4 innings. I'd be willing to bet if AJ makes his next start as scheduled -- Aguila will be back within a week.
May 26, 200519 yr Aguila could be a very valuable member of the club if he ever got a chance to play. Sigh. Although not entirely unsuspected.
May 26, 200519 yr It sucks that Aguila gets the sent down, but I'm sure he'll be back soon. Also, it should be interesting to see Yorman pitch a bit. I can't say I'm terribly excited though.

Spooneybarger shortly after. Unless some other arm gets injured or someone (Bump and Dillon are the only ones with minor league options I think, not including our backup catcher) is sent packing, there will be no room on the roster.
May 26, 200519 yr It's a damn shame Aguila wasn't given an opportunity to play more, I hope his stay in the minors is a short one. and I don't see what they're trying to prove by calling up Bazardo. We've already got one promising prospect in Kensing that we may have screwed with his head by calling him up to soon, are we now trying to do it with another prospect who is even less ready then the one we just sent down.?
May 26, 200519 yr It's a damn shame Aguila wasn't given an opportunity to play more, I hope his stay in the minors is a short one. 784259 But chances are he won't get a chance to play then either so maybe it's best for him to play everyday down in AAA at this point.

He's the perfect bench player, as long as he gets playing time with some sort of regularity.
May 26, 200519 yr RotoWorld's take: Frank Castillo - R - Marlins Marlins purchased the contract of RHP Frank Castillo from Triple-A Albuquerque. Castillo will start Thursday in place of A.J. Burnett and likely head back to the minors on Friday to open up a roster spot for Guillermo Mota. May. 26 - 1:27 am et Yorman Bazardo - S - Marlins Marlins purchased the contract of RHP Yorman Bazardo from Double-A Carolina. If the Marlins did a better job of signing minor league veterans, they wouldn't have to rush prospects like Logan Kensing and Bazardo to the majors. What's especially bad here is that their burning an option year on a very good prospect who happens to be just 20 years old. Bazardo was 4-2 with a 3.58 ERA, 42 H and 34/16 K/BB in 50 1/3 IP for Carolina. He'll probably only hang around as a middle reliever for a few days. May. 26 - 1:26 am et Chris Aguila - OF - Marlins Marlins optioned outfielder Chris Aguila to Triple-A Albuquerque. Carrying Aguila as a reserve was an idea that should have been abandoned when Florida decided not to trade Juan Encarnacion or Jeff Conine. The Marlins knew they'd have next to no playing time to give a fifth outfielder, so they would have been better off giving the job to a more experienced player. Aguila was 3-for-16. He should return once the Marlins actually need another outfielder. May. 26 - 1:21 am et Logan Kensing - R - Marlins Marlins optioned RHP Logan Kensing to Double-A Carolina. Kensing allowed seven runs in 5 2/3 innings during his weak with the Marlins. May. 26 - 1:17 am et
May 26, 200519 yr I think Kensing deserved to be sent down, but not Aguila. And I wasn't expecting Bazardo to get sent up at all.
May 26, 200519 yr Man, Aguila didn't deserve this, I guess there was really no other option though... EXCEPT FOR LENNY HARRIS. Once Lenny gets 200 pinch hits, Aguila better be called back up. Lenny is only 2 away.
May 26, 200519 yr Aguila had options and was not being used much at all, that hurt him here. I like him. Good guy, earned his spot and he'll be back when we need him.
May 26, 200519 yr Why the hell has JB Miadich not gotten the call yet? Look at these stats in the hitters haven that that is Albuquerque and tell me this guy doesn't deserve to be in the big leagues. 22 innings 2.45 ERA 15 BBs 40 Ks
May 26, 200519 yr Logan Kensing - R - Marlins? ? Marlins optioned RHP Logan Kensing to Double-A Carolina. Kensing allowed seven runs in 5 2/3 innings during his weak with the Marlins. May. 26 - 1:17 am et 784268 Hmmmm... :mischief
