June 1, 200521 yr He's the first 3 choices, and generally a scumbag. Great representative for what the city of Detroit is all about.
June 1, 200521 yr I hate threads like this, especially started by someone who is just here to flame, given this is his/her first post. But I think of Da Sheed as a Wife Beater...which he is.

But prosecution was deferred when Wallace apologized in court and agreed to perform 50 hours of community service and seek counseling. June, 1996 - A judge denied Bryant's request for a restraining order against Wallace after employees at the day-care center accused him of causing a disturbance there. He allegedly blocked the day-care driveway and would not allow other parents to enter or exit. He also shouted profanities. Classy..... :plain

June 1, 200521 yr Well during game 2 of the Heat and Pistons David Aldridge reported that the name "Roscoe" goes back to 'Sheed's Portland days. J.R. Rider use to call him Roscoe because according to J.R. "he looked like a guy named Roscoe", and when 'Sheed came to Detroit Darvin Ham found out about it and it caught on with his Pistons teammates.
June 1, 200521 yr Can someone explain to me why people like Rasheed Wallace so much? I consider myself a pretty knowledgeable basketball fan, and I have noticed this gigantic lovefest bestowed upon him that I just can't explain. It doesn't seem that long ago that he was in Portland racking up technical after technical, arguing with refs and just acting immature as hell when he didn't get his way. Not to mention all of his off-the-court stuff. I can surely appreciate his god-given gift. He's a great basketball player, and I actually enjoy watching him play a lot. However, I've never been a fan of his, going back to the Bullets days, but especially the Portland days. I've always found him to be the typical a$$hole, crybaby, overpaid, immature athlete who doesn't have a clue. I actually don't see too much of a difference in character between him and knuckleheads such as Spree, Sam Cassell, Ricky Davis and even Steve Francis to a lesser extent. I'm not even including Ron Ron in this because that dude's just on another planet. What has he done in the past year or two that has changed everyone's mind about this guy? Does he do more community work? Does he give a lot of money to charity? What am I missing? I don't want to be a hater, but I just can't control it. Maybe it is me who's wrong. Please give me a reason to like him. I want to like him. Thanks! This is a tricky question you've brought us, Jason, but you've come to the right place. Here, then are 10 reasons to like Rasheed Wallace: 1) He got called for a technical foul in the McDonald's All-American Game. You must respect his gangsta, his consistency if nothing else. 2) He's emotional and he means it. In a League where so many guys don't seem to care at all, Rasheed really does want to win, and he plays like it. What's so bad about that? 3) He got his championship ring re-sized to fit his middle finger, and he got wrestling-style championship belts made for everyone. 4) He does a ton of charity work, most of which he never mentions or publicizes. His foundation, aptly named the RAW (Rasheed A. Wallace) Foundation, does everything from coat give-aways to the homeless in his Philly hometown to holding free basketball camps for kids. 5) On the morning of 9/11, Rasheed was going to take a bunch of underpriveledged kids from Philly to play paintball up near New York City. They were in a bus and had just left when the Towers fell. As weird as everything was, Sheed didn't want to just take all the kids right back home. So, they took the bus to Sheed's grandmother's house in Jersey. She cooked a huge lunch for them all, and they sat and watched the news all day and then went home that night. For such a horrible day, at least one group of kids has something positive to remember about it. 6) While he was with Portland, he felt the media there didn't treat him fairly, so he refused to speak to them. He did an interview with me for a SLAM cover story but wasn't all that great with me, and I wrote about it in the story. When I saw him later, he acknowledged that I was honest and he's talked to SLAM ever since. 7) He once told me that he had a collection of his fingernail clippings. I was completely confused by this, and I asked if he had them in a jar or what. He then smiled and said he was only kidding. 8) He used to get a lot of technical fouls, yes, and then everyone talked about it and he cut down on them. Guess who led the NBA in technical fouls this season with 27? Rasheed. But he's learned when to get them to fire up his team instead of costing them games. 9) He still wears Air Force 1s. 10) Yes, Rasheed's kind of loopy, but he's definitely a character. Characters are what makes sports fun. If everyone was like Kobe or Peyton Manning, always trying to say the right thing, sports would be boring. I think the difference in Sheed and the guys you mentioned is that Sheed has, to some degree, grown up. He may still be immature from time to time, but he's no longer as selfish as he used to be. And for that, we should applaud him.
June 3, 200521 yr He's a whiner. Tries to blame his lack of production on the refs. Cmon, the guy gets 2 points? Jeez.

June 3, 200521 yr I just heard he was fined 20,000$ for something. c/o ESPNews 794427[/snapback] He basically said the refs try and dictate who wins and loses games. It's the absolute truth, much as I hate Sheed, but Stern doesn't want to hear it.
