Just when you thought that George Lucas was serious when he said he was done with the Star Wars series, fans may pleasantly surprised. It is being said that a seventh installment is being planned.

Lucas had previously stated that Revenge of the Sith was to be the last. However, it looks like he has changed his mind and is currently developing a prequel to The Phantom Menace. An movie insider has revealed: ?George believes there are even more stories to tell. His latest idea would feature an almost all-new cast, apart from the Jedi master Yoda, who would be the hero of the new movie.?

The film in question would be set 100 years earlier than the current movies.

If Lucas made Yoda the hero, it would be a popular move with Star Wars fans.Yoda, voiced by Frank Oz, is the one who trained Luke Skywalker to defeat Darth Vadar and is considered to be a cult hero among devotees.

It has been said that since Lucas doesn?t need the money after the success of the first six films, he will try to take a back seat throughout the latest film?s production

Won't happen. As far as Star Wars is concerned, Lucas is finished with making the movies and will just concentrate on making the TV shows.

that seems interesting if its legit, but I would be more interested in a VII, VIII & IX saga. So what if its all new actors playing Luke, Han, etc. The series would feature the married Solo's twin boy and girl. I don't know too much of the story, but it seems to have a lot of potential.

From what I remember, Luke begins to train new Jedi as well.

Anyone know where I can get the books or what they are called? I see so many around but really don't know which ones to get.

Well Lucas has said that the whole Star Wars series revolves around Anakin Skywalker from boy to his Death after redemption. So thats why he doesn't want to make a VII, VIII and IX.

Also, I haven't read many of the books, but I hear that the Thrawn Trilogy and New Jedi Order are some of the best available.

I recomoned the Thrawn trilogy to anyone , truely good stories told just like they were the movies and written very well

Heir to the empire

Dark Force Rising

The Last Command all written by Timothy Zahn if you are interested

The Rogue squadron books are my favorites....prolly cause i'm a flyboy and Wedge was my favorite charactor, but the Rogue Squadron books are very good too

for those who dont know, the rogue squadron was the name of the X-wing sqaudron started by Luke Skywalker and Wedge Antilles following the destruction of the first death star, they also fought at Hoth and Endor

anything that has to do with making more movies i support, personally i would love to see him make a movie that shows what happens between 3 and 4. How Vader gets trained by the emperer and how he kills off the rest of the Jedi left in the universe. Also show the training that Obi-one does to get in contact with Qui-Gon Jinn and what he tells him to do.This would also give lucas a chance to introduce Han Solo before he becomes a smuggler and how he saved Chewwie when he was getting a beating from the Emperial Gaurds. just my thoughts but would love to see it on the big screen

not a bad idea. obviously it couldn't be a "real" part of the series....unless of course it was called, "Episode 3 1/2"

Those kinds of stories will probably be explored in the EU.

I'm pretty sure Anakin wouldn't be alive in the timeframe for this new prequel.

He'll eventually crumble, the Star Wars sequels will be made.

I have read many many many Star Wars books including the Thrawn trilogy and the Jedi Academy trilogy and they were great stories but would not compliment Star Wars if they were movies. The thing about episodes 1-6 is that there is this giant underlying story full of twists. In actuality, there are no episodes 7-9. The books are just stories about setting up the New Republic and mopping up the remnants of the empire. There is nothing epical about them. I'd be really mad if Lucas makes more movies UNLESS... there is another ewok movie in the making. :)

What the hell is there to cover before the Republic falls? The great prosperity of the Senate and how peaceful things were?

Screw that. Episodes 7, 8, and 9 have the potential to be absolutely amazing. Those need to be made if anymore movies are done.

Timothy Zahn and Kevin J Anderson are great Star Wars authors. Michael Stackpole did a great job in the X-Wing series, but so did the other authors involved. I'd recommend reading them.

There are no episodes 7-9. And if there were, they would be pointless stories. There would be no big picture to see anymore. It would throw off the entire balance of the movies because it's all been done. They would be big disappointments because all we would see is Luke training new Jedi, the New Republic spreading their influence throughout the galaxy, and wannabe sith lords... There is no huge conflict to fight through. They would make for really weak stories. Trust me.

If there are no Episodes 7-9, why are there scripts written by George Lucas for them?

i would go see 7,8,9, who's with me

I think everyone and their mother would, which is why I'm confident they'll be made at some point. Remember, Industrial Light and Magic needs operating money...

They should just re-make Episode's IV-VI. They're good for the 70's and 80's, but it would be so sweet if Lucas were to remake them. Just my opinion, though.

I seriously hope you aren't getting this information from SuperShadow :mischief

Well I read years ago that Lucas had the scrips for Episodes I-III and VII-IX written out as he was doing the original trilogy. So who knows..

No

This is from memory from days past. He had written 1-3 and 7-9 from beforehand, and he's talked about 7-9 not being done unless all the others came out on dvd first (well, that happened).

they shouldnt, i cant picture anyone as han solo other then harrison ford, he fits the charactor perfectly, and it would be too wierd having someone play Luke skywalker other then Mark Hamiel (sp?) and who would play Wedge :mischief

all the actors are too old now or want no business making new star wars movies

If there are no Episodes 7-9, why are there scripts written by George Lucas for them?

Ha.

Oh my gosh. In the interviews on the DVDs/VHSs themselves, he talks about how 4-6 are the last parts of the story. He didn't write any episodes 7-9 which is why he gave writers permission to write the books that follow Return of the Jedi. Where the heck do you people get your information? Now I wouldn't be surprised if he has sat down and brainstormed the future past RotJ since he has the final say on every book written, but there are no episodes 7-9.

The book, "The Truce at Bakura", takes place immediately after Return of the Jedi. Read it.

Read the NJO. Read it. Or else. Thats what could and should be made into 7, 8, and 9 if possible. That would be absolutely amazing.

I'd agree even though I don't want anymore Star Wars movies. I think it would ruin it. But if they must make some new ones, the best they could do would be to cover the Yuuzhan Vong invasion. That might actually make for some good movies.

Damn 253, you're trying to boost that post count aren't you?

Juanky, I remember hearing that not only were the scripts written, but he essentially ripped the story out of an existing sci-fi novel series, and the intention of his (at least this was before he did the prequels) was that his children would make the new ones after the first ones had been done justice (the DVD comment), he said that he simply could not commit the time to two new trilogies.
