June 2, 200521 yr There are 112 games left in the 2005 Baseball season. A team can not win their division and still make the playoffs, it is known as the Wild Card. The 2003 Florida Marlins were 26-31 on June 1st of that year. Hitting coaches do not step in the batter's boxes. Baseball teams do lose, no team has ever gone 162-0. Baseball teams stumble and slide. Thanks.
June 2, 200521 yr great points but part of being a fan is reacting and gettin on your team when they play like crap....it's part of a 162 game season...let people get this off their chest...they don't need your reminder.
June 2, 200521 yr And to top it all off, the Marlins have won the World Series twice as a Wild Card team. The Braves have won the division 13 times straight and have only won one World Series in that time. Am I right?
June 2, 200521 yr Every game counts. We were playing like s*** last year around this time, but we were still in first place. Problem was we didn't pull away from the Braves when we had the chance, and when they went on there hot streak, before we knew it we were 15 games back. I don't want that to happen again, and the FO needs to do something (Willingham) to right the ship.
June 2, 200521 yr Hitting coaches do not step in the batter's boxes. 792538[/snapback] Managers don't play on the field and they are fired for a team's poor play.
June 2, 200521 yr I know the Florida Marlins will win this division, I'm not crying "it's the end!" But as Juanky said, it is still no fun to watch your boys drop 7 of 8

June 2, 200521 yr I think if we are to ever win the division, we need to pull away from the Braves early on. The Braves always have a huge streak at the end of the season. We need to pull away now.

But I'd rather make a coaching change first then trade struggling players.

'Who said that was always the right move?' Note: Always. A manager is sometimes fired for the wrong reasons. Joe Torre was rumored to be fired last year during a Yankee slide, do you think a guy that has won multiple championships was the real reason the Yankees fell on hard times? If he had gotten fired...would it have been justified? And nice job bringing up Grady Little, unrelated to this thread, and saying I was bitter replacing him and winning the world series next year....but good job posting something totally unrelated just to flame my post. BTW, you know you are a moron when 'The Next Big Thing' in your signature has a 177 BA...good day!

A firing of a coach does send a message sometimes, and the right change can be huge for a squad, you guys experienced that in 2003...but it can also be devistating if not done right. This team is actually good though. You have the horses to win the division, just ride them and see where it goes, good players will come through..its only June 1st. And just a thought...do you guys think Bill Robinson got Cabrera to his .350 clip? Probably not, so who is it to say he affects Lowell's .200 average?

But he also has a hand in creating this offense that is so inconsistent.
June 2, 200521 yr Author Well then if he got Cabs to .350...he should be able to help others...unless, its just Lowell. I sure as hell dont think Robinson was the reason Cabrera is going buck wild out there, its that he is a great talent and he is coming into his own. Just like I think the .200 BA is the result of him just plain sucking, pressing, hurt, roids, not listening to advice or something else. If you think another hitting coach is going to see something drastically different then Robinson is you are crazy...there is only so much that a hitting coach can do/tell/advise a player on. The other 99% is up to him.
June 2, 200521 yr then why have him at all??? why do all of the MLB teams have hitting coaches if their so unimportant like you say?

June 2, 200521 yr Author A hitting coach is important...to a degree. He gives suggestions, breaks down films, and spread his knowledge. The player still laces em up and uses his own hands on his own bat to make a hit. Never has a hitting coach made or breaked a team's chances at the WS.
June 2, 200521 yr 2nd Place in the NL East isn't an automatic Wild Card...There are a few teams in the West that could claim the W.C. No matter what, this team still needs to make moves to play better than the other teams vying for the W.C. and also to knock off those Braves
