June 3, 200519 yr It's truly impressive how dedicated our two young super studs are to bettering themselves and their games Congrats to dontrelle
June 3, 200519 yr Do you remember when people were saying that Dontrelle wasn't suited to be a starter, that we should send him out to the bullpen? sheesh. Congrats D-Train. Keep em coming.
June 3, 200519 yr Yeah, before he learned his change. That's the biggest difference. It's a race to 15!
June 3, 200519 yr Congratulations Willis! Thanks for breaking our losing streak and handing us our first win in Pittsburgh since September 2002. BTW: Livan Hernandez can get his 9th win tomorrow against us...

June 3, 200519 yr BTW: Livan Hernandez can get his 9th win tomorrow against us... 793721 :plain no jinxing please
June 3, 200519 yr Congrats Willis, it's about time we stopped this streak!! On to Washington we go!!! :thumbup
June 3, 200519 yr D-Train should get the start, but we all know Clemens will start. Personally, I think it's time for the old guy to hand the reigns over to someone else. He's been here long enough for us to respect him. It would be awesome if they chose him to start, and then he said he wouldn't.  One can only hope..
June 3, 200519 yr Hello All-Star game. 793722 I think he'll go also. But will he be the NL starter? Or did his 2 losses cost him that spot....

Or did his 2 losses cost him that spot.... 793730 In 12 games, he hasn't given up more than 3 ER in any game (only twice), and has 3 CG, 2 SO.  Nobody has as many wins as him, and very few pitchers have fewer losses.
June 3, 200519 yr What a year Willis is having on the mound and at the plate. Just amazing how this kid has gotten to this point

June 3, 200519 yr Author I think he'll go also. But will he be the NL starter? Or did his 2 losses cost him that spot.... 793730 It won't be because of the 2 losses that would cost him. Right now, the only guy in the NL "Possibly" better would be Clemens. And if losses costed Willis, then Clemens' 3-3 record would destroy him :plain

Of course, this could all "get flushed down the toilet" as Jack would say. Who knows how the rest of the month will go.

June 3, 200519 yr La Russa will go with Clemens unless Rocket falls off, Trelle does something ridiculously amazing, or the public outcry is for Willis to start.
June 3, 200519 yr La Russa will go with Clemens unless Rocket falls off, Trelle does something ridiculously amazing, or the public outcry is for Willis to start. 793813Â I guess out of those three things the only thing that seems realistic is Dontrelle doing something amazing. Congrats to D-Train though, lets keep the wins coming.
June 3, 200519 yr Author Yeah, you're right. He has the most wins in the NL, and you have to take a long look down to find someone who has a lower ERA than him. Livan Hernandez is the only one who has a shot at beating him for the job IMO, because after him, in the NL, you only have Beckett, who has 2 less wins, one more loss, and an ERA about 1.00 higher, and Carpenter, who has a 7-3 record like Beckett, but has an ERA of almost 4. 793748 Roger Clemens and Mike Hampton have lower ERAs than him. Myers is right on his tail, and nowhere near "a long look down" at 2.06 ERA, and Peavy definitely isn't a long look down either.  Wins are a bad thing to judge the All-Star on. The Rocket is 3-3 with the lowest ERA in the NL. But based on your second statement and poor attempt to look up stats, Mulder is 7-2 and 3.62 ERA which is better than Carpenter if you feel the need to include someone else. Beckett is doing better than Livan, you can only win if your team supports you, but their ERA is better to judge them (see Clemens).  Another few good mentionables are Peavy at 5-0 with 2.37 (as stated by someone else) .. Hudson at 6-3 with an ERA of 3.00 or Pedro at 6-1 with 2.62 ERA.
