Only if he can throw 150 pitches an outing like Livan does. :cool

Does anybody here seriously want Zach Day? I rather trade for some prospects than some guy who is just going to be an emergency starter.

We don't need pitching! Everybody gets all upset when our pen gives up a run. What we need is a hitting coach and maybe another bat in the lineup.

in his first year as a starter, Day had an ERA of 4.18, last year he had an ERA of 3.93. this year he has stunk, but he's only 26 and has shown signs of talent. also, he's still arbitration-eligible for the next 3 years. the marlins have Conine on the bench, Leiter and probably AJ dropping out of the rotation next year, and a need in the bullpen this year....that Day trade would have been awesome for us. it's a real shame he broke that bone. it's such a good deal for us that i hope we still do it when he's healed.

this is very true, a new batter would help A LOT!!!

ahh ok makes sense now.

hitting doesn't win rings fellas. this is like the Josh Beckett for Adam Dunn nonsense that has been lingering for 2 years now. hitting comes and it goes, every team slumps. the Yankees, with their sicko lineup, just scored 9 runs in 5 games and dropped a series to the Royals. do they need another bat?

ya but you can't win a game with 0 runs and when this happens it is rare

I said maybe another bat in the lineup (if you were talking about my post), but what we really need is a new hitting coach.

True, but we have some good bats on the bench/minors and starting pitching is a worry that may need to be addressed now or in the near future.

i think pitching is more important right now. i believe we got the hitters, just that there not hitting. im worried about the pitching breaking down.

chasedt, it is not only the coaches fault it CAN be the effort put in by the batter

A good example of that would be Lowell. It seems like he puts hardly any effort when he's at the plate, but his fielding another story.

Lowell puts hardly any effort when he's at the plate? :plain

If anything, he's trying too hard.

I say let Joe Dillon play.

mike needs a day or two off. he cant hit for nothing right now so i say give him a break because it seems there is no way out of this slump for him right now. so give easley and dillon more PT.

If he was healthy, I would trade Encarnacion for Day in a heartbeat. Day's got huge potential in the longterm, pitching behind this defense in this park I would expect nothing but great things from him. He has Pavano written all over him (last year's Pavano...)

Encarnacion is producing over his head, as far as RBI's are concerned, and will probably hit a wall sooner or later. He lacks hustle, and is a free agent after this year. We'd do fine with Conine/Willingham/Aguila type platoon in RF.
