June 4, 200519 yr in his first year as a starter, Day had an ERA of 4.18, last year he had an ERA of 3.93. this year he has stunk, but he's only 26 and has shown signs of talent. also, he's still arbitration-eligible for the next 3 years. the marlins have Conine on the bench, Leiter and probably AJ dropping out of the rotation next year, and a need in the bullpen this year....that Day trade would have been awesome for us. it's a real shame he broke that bone. it's such a good deal for us that i hope we still do it when he's healed.

June 4, 200519 yr mike needs a day or two off. he cant hit for nothing right now so i say give him a break because it seems there is no way out of this slump for him right now. so give easley and dillon more PT.

Day's got huge potential in the longterm, pitching behind this defense in this park I would expect nothing but great things from him. He has Pavano written all over him (last year's Pavano...) Encarnacion is producing over his head, as far as RBI's are concerned, and will probably hit a wall sooner or later. He lacks hustle, and is a free agent after this year. We'd do fine with Conine/Willingham/Aguila type platoon in RF.
