MIAMI -- The Florida Marlins will host the Seattle Mariners and Texas Rangers during their fifth homestand of the 2005 season from Tuesday, June 7 through Sunday, June 12. The six-game homestand will feature three fan giveaways, one heritage night at the park (Asian-American) and one annual marquee event (Play Catch with Dad).

The Marlins will host the Seattle Mariners for the first-time in history, in a three-game series of Interleague Play from Tuesday, June 7, through Thursday, June 9. The Mariners will travel coast-to-coast (2,678 miles) from Seattle to take on the Marlins.

 

The Rangers will visit South Florida for the second straight season to take on the Fish in a three-game series starting Friday, June 10, through Sunday, June 12. Florida's Interleague record currently stands at 80-58. Disability Awareness Night: In honor of Disability Awareness Night, the Florida Marlins will be recognizing two individuals who have done extraordinary things with their efforts in serving the disabled. First, Marlins President, David Samson, for his significant contributions in the area of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, where he has helped to raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for HBOT Therapy and treatments. Second, Isabel Garcia, Executive Director of Parent to Parent of Miami, a non-profit organization that provides information, educational training, support, emergency assistance, respite options and advocacy to families who have children and adults with disabilities.

Funds raised through the Marlins Ladies Nights activities support scholarships for Women of Tomorrow. During the school year, the Florida Marlins conduct tours of Dolphins Stadium for these high school girls who also get to meet many of the women working at the Florida Marlins. Susan Jaison, V.P. of Finance, and Nancy Olson, Executive Director of the Florida Marlins Community Foundation' serve as mentors at Flanagan High School and were named the Mentoring Team of the Year by Broward County Schools.

MLB Pitch, Hit and Run is Major Leagues Baseball's official youth skills competition. The competition gives children ages 7-14 at the opportunity to showcase their abilities in three fundamental skills: pitching, hitting and running.

i dont really agree with you on the AL lieter thing, Kenny Rogers is notorious for having a bloated era and a high win total, thats beacuse he plays for a team that puts up like 10 runs a game. If AL had that type of offense hed have a good record too. But as for this year Rogers is having a monster year.
