June 8, 200521 yr so disappointing 800292 I find this comment rather humorous...we have an entire scouting department working countless hours on the MLB draft. Do you really profess to be a better judge of talent than Felming, Jennings and the rest of the staff? Perhaps if you were at Harvard or Yale...I'd have some more faith in your analysis. :whistle
June 8, 200521 yr Q: Greg from Florida asks: The Marlins had a lot of picks early in the draft. How did they do? A: Jim Callis: They added a lot of pitching. Obviously, there's always going to be attrition with pitching, but to get Chris Volstad (ultraprojectable HS righty), Aaron Thompson (very polished HS lefty), Jacob Marceaux (power college righty), Ryan Tucker (hard-throwing HS righty) and Sean West (6-foot-8 HS lefty) before the second round even starts . . . Wow. some are impressed

Jeez I bet all you Dolphin fans were sooooooo happy when you past on the chance to get Randy Moss.... or I bet you were all wayyyyy stoked when you drafted that s***ty cornerback I didnt know I wasnt allowed to have an opinion on the draft
June 8, 200521 yr I don't think our draft was terrible, but I don't think it was good either. We don't have any top rated hitting prospects below AA, I sure would've liked to see us take some college hitters with at least 2 of our first 5 picks, because after Hermida comes up next year, there won't be much left regarding hitting prospects.

June 8, 200521 yr well we dont know what they have in the Domincan and Venezuelan leagues, maybe they have some good hitters there we dont know about yet

Wow. some are impressed 800648 For the wrong reasons. We had 8 of the first 96 picks. Even if Fleming & Jennings had drafted the most unsignable players and hacking athletes, most of the media would say it was one of the best drafts.
June 8, 200521 yr Yeah, all Callis noted was that they got a lot of pitching early. Which isn't hard to do when you have a lot of early picks.
June 9, 200521 yr We wont know how good or bad this draft is for another 4-5 years...I like taking alot of pitchers early, it can only increase your chances of getting a star...if just one of those guys ends up being a D-Train or Josh Beckett or AJ this draft would be a success
