Thought it was quite interesting that McKeon let Willis hit in the bottom of the 7th knowing that he was not going to pitch the 8th inning. Do you think McKeon planned on letting Willis get recognized by the fans while departing the mound....instead of just PH for him?

BTW, Bump did an outstanding job and it seems like McKeon has a lot of confidence in him as well. Where will Spooney fit in when he returns?

i think there were 2 reasons behind it. once was so willis would be recognized as he got pulled from the game. the other reason was to get the d'backs to announce a right handed ph (mondesi) then take out willis and bring a right hander from the pen (bump).

Also, don't forget we were short two guys on the bench (3 if you consider the two catcher scenerio), so there was no use burning a pinch hitter with no one on in a tight game that could go extra innings.

agreed....i wasn't sure whether it was in response to mondesi pinch hitting, or to get a nice hand from the crowd. if it was the latter....that's a real classy move.

Worked either way. As usual TJ can't seem to make a wrong move lately.

yeah TJ is the man, he's making everyone play better, most players are giving him a lot of credit, except for penny, penny refuses to admit that he is pitching better because of TJ, im sure you guys have read his comments in the article, he's so damn stubborn, i thought he turned that corner and is over that by now, but looks like penny insists on being responsible for his own succes, which isn't a bad thing, i just hope he one day recognizes that a big reason he is pitching better is because of how jack has handled him

Orisha and NC MArlin are right on.

FishFan - I agree. Penny needs to grow up. All the more reason I hope we trade him after this season, that guy just dont get it...
