July 3, 200521 yr If anybody's willing to offer something that will help the team...let the guy go. Wish him luck if you love him so much. Send him a christmas card. We had him in the past. We were forced to take him back in the L.A. trade. He's never proven to be anything more than a slightly above average player with a crummy attitude. Unless your attention span only goes back only 3 days, he's nothing to get that excited about one way or the other. If he goes, sayonara baby....i don't care who replaces him. Conine seems the most likely, but he's also just a slightly above average player, with a good attitude. If there's somebody else that you think would be better than Conine, go ahead...let's hear it...it's fine with me. And if we keep Enc, I hope he wins the triple crown.
July 3, 200521 yr Just look at his performance and you'll see Enc has improved greatly from last year and for that matter from 2003. The guy is coming around nicely. He is showing greater patience at the plate, is hitting balls to the opposite field, is driving in runs. What else would you expect him to do? IMO he is is playing to his contract of $4.4M, no question about it. Face it he isn't a Bobby Abreau ($13.1) or Gary Sheffield ($11.5M) or Trot Nixon ($7.5M). He was missing badly and looking REALLY bad at the plate. Thats when I really started hating him - he's all about himself and I don't think he really cares about the team or winning. Which is why he earned the nickname "Encanceracion". Recently hes been hitting the first pitch pretty well. A lot of his hits during this hot streak have been swinging at the first pitch, and those hits weren't dropping when he wasn't so hot. All this coupled w/ the fact that sometimes he plays downright shoddy defense in RF w/ no hussle is why some people, including me, don't like him very much.

Not the best comments, but I rather see him talking to the media directly, than hiding behind the "unamed player. Bad influence on the clubhouse? please. post a link as well. He is pretty neutral Neither good or bad. He goes out there, doesn't say much. I'm not saying his the savior, but some of you go out of your ways to hate on a player that is doing his job.

I have been pretty supportive of him, but theres a time when the potential people keep seeing with you has to be turned into something. I think he has done well on the most part for us. Especially seeing how badly alot of our key players have been doing. Like alot of analysts have been saying, hes a 5 tool player: he just has to use those tools and thats something he doesnt do all the time. With all this said, I just want him to focus on the moment and try to show to all the nay sayers that he can be on a ball club a long time and not continue to be part of trade rumors. Juan Encarnacion has three hits in his past 24 at-bats and two RBI since June 5. That doesn't make sitting any easier. Wednesday marked the third consecutive game Encarnacion wasn't in the starting lineup. Manager Jack McKeon played Jeff Conine, who had two hits in each of his past two games. Conine made his fourth straight start and third in place of Encarnacion. "We got [Conine] in there and he's hitting, so it's tough to take him out," McKeon said. "He's done a pretty good job coming off the bench. Juan has been struggling a little bit. Maybe a few days will be a tonic for him. ... Both of them can share a lot and contribute." Asked whether the break could help in the long run, Encarnacion said: "How does that help? For what? Numerically, I had three or four bad games like anybody else. What can I say? Those are things you can't control. You just have to wait and be ready for whatever." That whatever includes a trade. Encarnacion is aware the Braves and Nationals have asked about him. He is unsure why the Marlins have resisted if they are willing to sit him three games in a row. "If they're going to do something, I hope they do it quickly so they don't waste my time not playing, if it's with me or whoever," he said. "They can send me to the worst team. Sitting down here, I'm not doing anything. "If you're talking about [production], I may be bad but I'm not the worst one here. I don't feel bad [at the plate]. Just a couple of bad days like anybody else. Highs and lows." Encarnacion is third on the team in RBI (39) behind Carlos Delgado (50) and Miguel Cabrera (45). He is the team's leading hitter with runners in scoring position (.355).

He is showing much better patience than in passed years and is putting up solid numbers. Im all for the deal high idea.
