And Washington wins again. :(

The news isn't all bad. The Washington win moves the Cubs another game behind us in the Wild Card race.

As for the Nationals, there's still over half a season to go. They'll come back to the pack.

Surely, they must fall apart eventually. Behind those Nats jerseys, they are still the Montreal Expos. I never thought they would do this.

They've always been a contending team since Minaya took over. Even last year they were really good after the injured players got back.

Let's see what happens when the Nationals have to face healthy NL East competition in the second half. They'll come back to Earth pretty quickly.

The Nats are showing no reason why anyone should assume they'll go on a decline.

There are two numbers I look at when judging the situation in the NL east right now. First, you cant look at games back but rather at losses. At some point we are going to get hot so when we do, we should be racking the wins up. Effectivley, you can control wins but you cant control the other team losing. If we are too far back in the loss column, it wont matter. For example, I see us as more tied with the Braves right now because we have the same number of losses as they do. So when we get hot, we can make up the 3 game difference in wins. We are six games back from the Nats in the loss column so its a little better.

Secondly, the Nats have been playing well beyond themselves and are not as good as their record IMO. Theyve been incredibley good/lucky in one run games. They are 21-7 in this category. They have scored one more run than theyve allowed. Its very likely that they will eventually fall back down to earth once the chips fall. The fact that theyve been hot as hell yet have not dominated teams says that eventually, when they cool off..they will cool off big time. And when we heat up...which we will...we just have to hope we arent too far behind like last year.

I see a lot of people associating the Nats' success with luck. Is this just our way of coping with the fact that they are a damn good team?

The Nats have finally scored more than allowed, 330 to 329.

When your up in that category by only 1 point, i think it is considered lucky.

A win is a win. If they know how to pull off wins even with their numbers, that makes them a good team of mediocre players.

I will say this only once, so I'll make it huge.

The Nationals are this years version of the 2003 Marlins

7 games is still better than 8 out.

Tonight was a must win. If we let this division slip by 9-10 games, we better forget about it and focus on the Wild Card

:lol

Still 7 games out...yet we are 1.5 games behind the Braves, with three games in hand. Considering how inconsistent we have been playing for basically the whole season, we are still in good shape.

I still feel the Braves are going to be right there at the end.

I mean, they are doing this without Chipper, Hampton, Hudson

:confused

Sometimes you have to look beyond the numbers that a team puts up... what a bunch of dorks.

I have a bellybutton.

The Nats is the most balanced team on the NL East.

Probably, they are only number one on relief pitching, but ALL their pieces are clicking together at the right time.

- They score 3-5 runs consistently.

- The starters put Quality Starts consistenly

- They play solid Defense

- They have a solid veterans like Castilla, Livan, etc.

- Relief pitching is lights out

- Solid Coaching Staff.

-Fans that show up to the games.

Yes this whole Washington thing is gettingly slightly annoying... it makes me want to do something... murder Jose Guillen? No they'd be expecting that... summon the ghost of Youppi and have him terrorize the clubhouse? Humm... how could anyone be scared of a... you know? whatever that thing was. Aha! I know. Write it down Fish Fans. To the Nationals... I put a Pox on your clubhouse! Muwhahahaha.

If they win tommorow... just ignore this post. Go Fish! :D
