He's really NOT trying to win the game, because Burnett thinks strikeouts are more important than wins right? Do yall think before you post? Honestly. You can't survive in this world without common sense. Maybe it'll come to you before you hit puberty. Burnett pitched a hell of a game considering he gave up 4 early runs. He went 6 IP and struck out 14. He could have thrown in the towel after the first 3 innings, but instead he decided to eat up innings for the team. He sucked it up, and pitched well for another 3 innings, thus saving the bullpen. In fact, it's a damn good thing he did eat up innings, because we had to go deep into the pen for this extra inning affair. Learn yourself some baseball. haha, horse crap? whatever....

July 7, 200521 yr How is 4 runs over 6 innings good? The one thing he did do was save the pen (which is good, but at the cost of throwing many pitches) , but it still wasnt a real good outing..at least we picked him up to win on a side note: 14 K's = amazing
July 7, 200521 yr It's a good outing because he ate up innings. He went innings 4-6 without giving up a run. You can look at it from a distance and say "oh 4 ER in 6 IP. That's not a quality outing", but like many things in baseball and life, you have to look past the surface. He sucked up a bad first 3 innings, and brought it together to pitch 3 more innings of scoreless baseball. He saved the pen, struck out 14, and regained composure. He obviously didn't lose confidence, continued to attack batters, and wasn't rattled. Veteran start right there. A pitcher isn't going to have quality starts every outing, but he can still have good outings. By the way, I'm not worried about the pitch count.

July 7, 200521 yr Author Juanky, you don't play a game in fear of getting injured. That's ridiculous. I don't care if you're a pitcher or not. Dontrelle Willis is one of the best pitchers in the game because he's got an amazing arm, but ALSO because he runs hard even when he's not pitching. He shows his heart in all aspects of the game. AJ obviously does not do this. AJ has been an ass more than once since he came to the Marlins, so don't think I'm jumping on him for one game. AJ Burnett is not the reason we won this game (obviously - he left when we were down). But to say Burnett pitched a great game is a lousy assessment. Just because he struck out 14 doesn't mean s***. Great, he got 14 outs via the strikeout. Had those 14 outs been ground outs, you guys wouldn't be talking about it. Those 14 batters don't really matter because there were four that he didn't get out, and that's why he has a no decision instead of a win.
