Teal Shadow
In light of DLee comments about the fanbase I started wondering that maybe certain players(Lowell, Burnett, etc..) are feed up with the attendance problem in SFla. The team home record is one of the worst in ML.There's no atmosphere at the stadium. Players don't seem to feed off the crowd like in other cities. hey I might be off base...I thought I'd throw it out there. maybe the players have lost hope :confused
Accord
It must be pretty disheartening for a Marlins player to show up for a game at his home stadium, only to hear "LETS GO METS" and "LETS GO CUBBIES" chants along with roaring cheers when a Marlins player strikes out or a Marlins pitcher gives up a home run. I can't blame them, i'd be pretty PO'ed too, but when you're getting paid millions of dollars, they better learn to suck it up and give 100% every night. No excuses. MarlinsFan253
Geez. If I lived in Florida and felt outnumbered by the away team fans, I would probably go nuts and try to make up for all the empty seats on my own. I'd look like a total moron. FreshFish
really? that didn't seem to bother them in 03. If they lost hope, then they should just ask to be traded
geemoney
I'd like to think that the players would be professional enough for something stupid like this not to affect them.
The "real" FAN
I'd like to think that the players would be professional enough for something stupid like this not to affect them. 852868[/snapback] players like to play in front of an audience, they want to show off there skills, I would think it effect them playing in front of empty orange seats
Marlin Nation
I think for the most part the Marlins are used to playing in front of lousy turnouts.
TSwift25
I think that might have a lot to do with our struggles at home against the Cubs, but it's always been like that with the Mets. Personally, I think our biggest reason for losing games at home is that as a team, we don't have power 3-8 like we were anticipating, and that problem is only exacerbated by our cavernous outfield. But, then again, the rallies in the Brewers series were blasted on with chants of "let's go Marlins!"
PBMarlin
I doubt it. Attendance is higher now than in 2003. This team just doesn't have the same no quitting, win any way possible attitude.
King Marlin 21
If the players want better crowds at the stadium, then they need to start hitting. If they get rolling and back into this race, people will show up down the stretch just like in 03.

Btw, if the Marlins had a new state of the art stadium that had a capacity of 36,000-38,000 - they would draw more fans for sure.Even if they went from 21,000 average to say around 29,000 average...the stadium would look fairly packed. That Orange Bowl location. What do you think about it? And my memory fails me right now, but why is Sunrise not considered? Or was it? I think I recall something about the debacle of how the finances/profits of the Office depot center has been so disastrous for Sunrise gov't officials, that they will never ever consider any other venue in their city again.
