Teal Shadow
Keep Lowell for the rest of the season, hope he rebounds and move him in the offseason(if the payroll becomes a big issue) move Burnett to the White Sox(best package of players) for Marte, RHP McCarthy, and OF Brian Anderson and yes I'd take Anderson over Carl Everett here's what the kid is doing in AAA(last game he played) CF Brian Anderson went 2-for-5 with a dinger and 2 RBIs. Anderson has been one of the hottest hitters in the IL of late. The 23-year-old outfielder has homered in 4 straight games to give him 15 on the season. He's also collected a hit in 12 straight games, going 20-for-53 (.377) during that span to boost his average from .287 to .301. TSwift25
Couldn't agree more. This is the best case scenario, well, actually I think hanging on to AJ is better, but that's unlikely to happen at this stage...
Tek tC
Aj is your best barganing chip for movin lowell's salary. with AJ: "You want Aj? give us prospects and take lowell" without Aj: "Pleeeaaase take Lowell??? We will chip in 15mill!"
Stag5
Teal, AT the very least split up AJ and Lowell. Would the Twins deal us one of their OF'ers for Lowell and Juan E.? Or maybe we want Kyle Lohse for Lowell? Then you trade AJ to the ChiSox, Red Sox or Jays.

The Orioles gave us the best chance to try to accomplish all of our goals (players and rid ourselves of Lowell), but they wouldn't take on the money, so paying Lowell to play elsewhere while he is recently showing signs is pointless. Here are the three scenarios with Lowell staying assuming he's not part of the AJ deal: 1) He goes on an absolute tear, starts hitting close to his career averages and finishes the year strongly. If that happens, we keep him around for 2006. 2) He keeps hitting for a progressively higher average but never regains his power stroke. If this happens, he's likely to be swapped for another player (corner outfield probably) with an underperforming contract. Simply a swap of one payroll headache for another with the hopes of a scenery change benefiting both teams. 3) Lowell sinks further into this slump, ending the year around .200 with no power numbers. If this happens, we pay a team to take him, and given what Angelos was demanding, we wouldn't be paying much more than we would now. Personally, I think Lowell is much more tradeable in the offseason, and with him unde contract, another two months of evaluation will probably benefit the Marlins more than anything... sportsbamer
ESPNEWS just said that the 3 team deal with the Marlins, Orioles and Pirates will be completed as soon as Burnett agrees to a contract extension. He is asked for a 4 year $36 million deal.

Hey they(Marlins) have moved unmoveable contracts(CJ and PFunk) before, so it can be done again. Hey Lowell contract might be more desireable with a better second half...you never know

Sources have said a lot of things regarding the Marlins these days....i wouldn't make much of this.
