August 6, 200323 yr Best tools: Baseball America polled the Major League managers, ranking players in each league for having the "Best Tools." Several Marlins were recognized. In the bunting category, Luis Castillo and Juan Pierre were rated first and second, respectively. Pierre was voted the fastest baserunner with Castillo third. Mark Redman's changeup was considered third behind Greg Maddux and Eric Gagne. Derrek Lee was named the third-best fielding first baseman, after J.T. Snow and Todd Helton. Castillo and third baseman Mike Lowell were voted the second-best fielders at their positions. In the next generation category, Josh Beckett was named the top pitcher. Beckett's fastball also was rated first, while his curveball was picked third. this from an espn.com poster
August 6, 200323 yr Derrek Lee was named the third-best fielding first baseman, after J.T. Snow and Todd Helton. That is a crime against humanity
August 6, 200323 yr Author DLee IMO is the best defensive first baseman. Do we not forget the catch he made on that grounder on Saturday I think it was? Plain sick. It definitely was...He might finish second to Helton in the GG voting because Snow has missed a bunch of games this season.

Luis Castillo was NEVER a better bunter than Juan Pierre. Shamrock or somebody, can you give me the link to this site?
August 6, 200323 yr Luis Castillo was NEVER a better bunter than Juan Pierre. Shamrock or somebody, can you give me the link to this site? yes he is, but Pierre is faster. Sure he is! Juan Pierre has always and will continue to be a better bunter than Luis. Why are we even debatign this, there is no question Juan is the best bunter in baseball. Nobody comes close.

August 6, 200323 yr On top of speed...Pierre has such great control over where the ball goes and has great placement on his bunts. How many times have we seen Pierre's bunts where the fielders don't even bother throwing?
August 6, 200323 yr I'll throw my hat into the ring as one who thinks Pierre is the better of the two in terms of bunting.
August 6, 200323 yr My fav. bunter is BIG RED.....oh wait, those are swings I think Redman needs to try batting from the right side. Can't get any worse than what he does from the left.
