I found this on the O's forum supposedly from ESPN radio as a possible trade. I thought would share with you all to consider. I dont claim it to be credible or anything though, so take with a grain of salt.

 

 

Three way between Fla, Chisox and Pitt

 

Florida gets Marte, top pitching prospect, Redman, Lawton

Chisox get Burnett, Encarnacion

Pittsburgh gets 2 prospects from Fla and one from Chi.

 

Now my question is who are the prospects we would be giving up?

In the other dugout at Dolphins Stadium, Pirates left-hander Mark Redman has drawn interest from the Marlins. It is unclear whether Florida would pursue him even if Burnett says.

 

Redman, who also has drawn interest from the Yankees, told Pittsburgh reporters he would welcome a return to the Marlins, for whom he was 14-9 with a 3.59 ERA in 2003.

 

"I had a good relationship with the ownership and with Jack McKeon," Redman said.

 

The Pirates have asked Florida for Class AA outfielder Jeremy Hermida, but have been told he is off limits. The Marlins could offer a package of minor-league pitchers, including Scott Olsen, Yorman Bazardo and Chris Resop.

i fear olsen would be invovled...

Redman would help us this year, but next year has the ability to end his contract. So does aquiring him really help for the future?

I'm completely opposed to any trades involving Vargas, Olsen, and Hermida. If that's what it takes we are keeping Burnett.

Deal Resop and Bazardo.....heck give em Kensing and Bazardo since their the two kids whose been up way too early.

Where would Enc play in that Outfield that already consists of Pods, Everrett, Rowand, Timo Perez, and Jermaine Dye.

Don't forget that they have a DH, but yeah it would be crowded out there in ChiTown.

honestly dont want to trade enc right now he has done real well hitting lately and helps defensively with his arm and he has power

they should give up Logan Kensing

Hell no we shouldn't give up Bazardo and Resop for Redman. Heck I don't want to give up either of them for him. Redman has pitched horrible his past 10 starts and has bad stuff on top of that. What is so good about Redman? Please Beinfest don't do it. And if Olsen is traded is traded for Redman. Beinfest should be fired on the spot.

Thats a opinion. I rather have Bazardo than Redman. Redman will be a rental and has a clause on his contratc that he can get like 5 million or close to that next year. Or you can also buy him out of the cntract. Is Redman that good? does he deserve that much money? how many of you bad mouth in him when he pitche poorly in the playoff's and where glad Beinfest traded him. You guys where calling Beinfest a genius then. Well truth is he got ripped off by the A's, overspent the first when he got Redman from the Tigers and will likely do it again. Of course I can't really complain about the first time cause we got a championship out of it but we did overspend on Redman, Urbina, and Conine(nasty rape). This year we aren't close to as good as we where in 2003 either.

if a trade gets you a championship then there is absolutely no argument you can make to say you over spent to get that piece.

 

Does redman deserve 5 million for a year? maybe that's a little much but it's not crippling. Redman is a great compliment to guys like willis, beckett and burnett b/c he's a great pitcher to have in the regular season. he wins you games. in the post season he isn't nearly as effective, but he wouldn't have to pitch in the post season

I agree I can't agree cause we got a championship out of it. But fact is we overspent in all the deals and not by alittle. It was more luck than skill.

 

Yes Redman doesn't derserve 5 million and if we ain't and shouldn't give him that much then he is gonna be a rental who we will overspend for. We won't get draft picks either cause if we offer arbitration he will accept it and egt 5 million or more. If we overspend it has to be for some we will have next season and will make a impact on your roster if we reach the playoff's. Redman will do neither for us.

i think the point would be to bring him here in order to MAKE the playoffs this year.

 

I do think there are better options though.

Have yyou seen the stats on how bad he ha spitch lately? He pitch good on sundya but it was against the Rockies and away from Coors Field. He lost 6 straight decision at one point and has a ERA around 7 I belive in the past 7-10 starts. Redman didn't pitch good for us in the secodn half of the 2003 season and hans't pitch good either now in this second half. He is not that big of an upgrda IMO and we will have another pitcher in the rotation known for his second half struggles(Willis). And hell no we better not give up Olsen. I'll sleep at night if we trade Bazardo for Redman but won't be to happy. If we trade Olsen I would have a hard time trusting this management ever again.
