LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Bob Denver, whose portrayal of goofy first mate Gilligan on the 1960s television show "Gilligan's Island" made him an iconic figure to generations of TV viewers, has died, his agent confirmed Tuesday. He was 70.

Denver, who underwent quadruple heart bypass surgery earlier this year, died Friday at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital in North Carolina, according to agent Mike Eisenstadt.

Denver's death was first reported by "Entertainment Tonight."

Denver also played the title character's beatnik pal, Maynard G. Krebs, on TV's "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis."

:(

Other than Mary Ann, are any of them still alive?

I was watching an 'Alf' episode the other day that the Skipper, Mary Ann, Professor and Gilligan starred...

:(

Did they ever get off the island on that show? :confused

I think the last made-for-tv movie had them escape finally...They got the key to the city, and it was grand.

There were 3 made for tv movies, first one they got off the island and at the end got marooned again. second one they escaped again, came back and built a resort on it, 3rd one had the Harlem Globetrotters. It turned into a kind of Love Boat/Fantasy Island kinda thing, really awful, worse than the 2 cartoon spin-offs. Gilligan's Planet was total crap.

RIP Little Buddy

Damn. That was one of my favorite shows growing up.

He'll be greatly missed.

Professor and Ginger, I believe.

R.I.P. Mr. Denver. Thank you for making us laugh.
