Posted September 18, 200519 yr Houston (80-68) 14 games left (1vsMil, 4@Pitt, 3@ChC, 2@StL, 4vsChC) Philadelphia (80-69) 13 games left (1@Fla, 3@Atl, 3@Cin, 3vsNYM, 3@Was) Florida (78-71) 13 games left (1vsPhl, 3@NYM, 3@Atl, 3vsWas, 3vsAtl) LET'S ASSUME (AND PRAY): Houston AND Philadelphia both play .500 ball Houston: 7-7 => 87-75 Philadelphia: 7-6 => 87-75 So IF they BOTH play .500 ball over the next two weeks, the Marlins need to go 9-4 in the final 13 games to tie.
September 18, 200519 yr Damn, Philly get's the REDS? And too bad the Astro's only have 2 games at St. Louis instead of the normal 3.
September 18, 200519 yr To quote Yogi "It aint over till it's over"...Anything can happen and lets hope something does to get this team winning and catch back up.
September 18, 200519 yr The Astros have a ridiculous scehdule, and will play better than .500. The Marlins got screwed.
September 18, 200519 yr The math doesn't look good. They just need to win today and take it from there.
September 18, 200519 yr The math doesn't look good. 951723 There is no math on the world that doesn't look good. Math is the most glamorous thing in the universe.
September 18, 200519 yr Houston has a huge edge. 951745 Agreed. They're going to have to collapse to miss the playoffs.
September 18, 200519 yr Damn, Philly get's the REDS? And too bad the Astro's only have 2 games at St. Louis instead of the normal 3. 951689 And it's too bad we may let Houston win those 2 games even though we own em this year winning I believe 11 of the 14 games :banghead
September 18, 200519 yr In other words, we need other teams to do the dirty work that we couldn't do ourselves?
September 18, 200519 yr Houston has a huge edge. 951745 Agreed. They're going to have to collapse to miss the playoffs. 951749 Quite Frankly says that Astros are going to win because of their schedule, and the rest of the contenders battle it out. Marlins have to play stupendous for the next 2 weeks, but I doubt itll happen. Astros will win most of their games, and even if the Marlins do the same, they wont catch up. All the games that "didnt matter" caught up to them. Thats it for this year.
September 18, 200519 yr Damn, Philly get's the REDS? And too bad the Astro's only have 2 games at St. Louis instead of the normal 3. 951689 And the cardinals wil probaly start their bench players.
September 18, 200519 yr You know why math means nothing? What were our odds to come back and win the 2003 NLCS after game 4, facing the prospects of going back to Wrigley for Games 6 and 7 vs Prior and Wood IF we made it back there? Exactly
