WTF is going on?
D-Train doesn't get that triple earlier he's pulled and ph for in the 6th...Joe probably wanted to see if he could deliver again. Hindsight's always 20/20.

Marlins trying to get JP back?
Go get'em Admin! JP + D-Train + our unexpected great play (relatively speaking) = run at Wild Card! We have as much a shot as anyone the way everyone else is playing in the NL and JP could be a spark like he was in '03. I WANT JP!

Realistic goals for the season
My expectations are now what they were from the start, 75-80 wins. The inexperience works against us and helps us. These guys are practically kids and go out there and play their hearts out and could easily get themselves into contention possibly should we keep playing this good or even better. It's still early though and once we get into late August and September some of these guys might fatigue, since many of them haven't even played close to 162 games in a season. Whatever though, I'm excited! This team is good and will be great real soon.

are tickets v Red Sox gone?
Who cares...a sell out is a sell out and all that money is ours...i don't care who buys our tickets cause we all know marlins fans aren't (except for me and the rest of us here who actually go out to games) And sorry...Red Sox are no longer the David vs. Golliath...second highest payroll (behind the yanks) and they won a title...neither of them are less evil, the Red Sox are just slightly more cause they sold out to beat the yanks...hey if you can't beat em' join em'

Willis to Yanks
Cano's the next Soriano for the Yankees, he's not going anywhere. There is plenty of other pitching available that they could trade for w/o having to focus on getting D-Train. If Willis has a great year and we have plenty of prospective pitching that we could make up for and it was a helluva deal I think the Fish would consider trading D-Train. I'm not counting on it though

Biggest concern
BULLPEN! We put up 8 runs and D-train has a solid start, for the most part and we lose the game in the 9th...lost our chance of taking our first series of the season. It may not be a while before we have that opportunity looking at our upcoming schedule (maybe Philly...). I wouldn't give up on CF...catching is fine w/ Olivo/Willingham combo

Tonights game on TV?
Is anyone living in the central/north florida area not able to see wendsday night game on their cable provider? J/w...I'm in gainesville and apparently some cable providers around the state can choose not to show the Marlins feed even though they can...anyone know what's up with that? I was in gainesville all last summer and was able to see every game...even the ones on PAX! Good thing I'm going back to south florida so I won't miss a game this summer. :cool MOD EDIT: Split from the MLB.tv thread.

Stadium questions
Don't care, they could build it in the middle of the everglades as long as they build something! If I had to choose... put it next to dolphins stadium...great location between miami and ft. lauderdale who cares what it look like as long as the build the damn thing would have decent crowds if the roof get put on, ticket prices come down or we field a contending team, that's the only way to get crowds in south florida

Thoughts after the first series?
Very impressed with what I've seen so far! Granted I think the Astros are a lot worse team then everyone makes them out to be and we still have a lot of good teams to face. The Mets will be a good gauge to measure I think atleast compared to the astros. Bullpen came in great after Moehler's bad start and we fought back, something that was most of the time lacking from last year. If we can keep this up we'll win some good games. I'll approach this w/ cautious optimism...I think we can compete all year. The test is going to come in August/September to see if all these youngsters can finish out the year strong w/o any noticible fatigue in their first 162 game season, a good 20-30 games more then some of them played in the minors. Overall, looks good! :thumbup

Castillo traded to Twins
This is what's happening...the marlins have little fan support as is so they are selling off all the players the real fans care about so now the marlins have NO fans at all so no one will give a sh*t when they move...each trade these days is a white flag to south florida. The ownership has given up. This is the last season the fish will be in south florida, go see them while you can cause there isn't much time left. f*** THIS sh*t! :thumbdown

Predict what our 2006 Opening Day roster will be
if we trade Castillo we are retarded...plain and simple. Either way here's my take... 1b: Delgado 2b: Castillo 3b: Cabrera (if we can't trade lowell) ss: Andino or FA (I like Garciaparra or even Ciaro) lf: FA or Niner...he's still got some gas left in the tank cf: JP rf: Hermida c: Lo Duca SP: D-train Beckett Vargas Olsen FA Just pullin this outta my ass...

Math for final two weeks
To quote Yogi "It aint over till it's over"...Anything can happen and lets hope something does to get this team winning and catch back up.

Philly Pitching Match-Ups
Screw the pitching matchups...we need to win this series any way we can. We need our bats to go out and rack up some runs to sweep this series...regardless if we don't win this series our playoff hopes are dead.

Gammons on Delgado
When BBTN was showing Delgado's clip about his 9 straight 30+ HR seasons they mentioned that the Marlins are talking about trading him after season's end (so says Peter Gammons)?! WTF? Why would the fish trade him and to who?!

Your New NL Wild Card Leaders
we need to win this series, if we win we are in the drivers seat and control our destiny. Josh needs to get it done tomorrow to atleast guarentee the split and kick some ass and try to run away and hide. Pierre producing in the bottom of the line up is clutch but I think if we are going to win it's going to be Conine coming through and leading the way to the postseason like the veteran he is should. GO FISH!

Embarrassing
There's no reason why we should have lost today...if this team can't pick it up now then the season is over... WTF...why didn't loduca bunt to get runners at 2nd, 3rd w/ one out in the 5th or 6th (i forget) and get some runs either on a sac or ground ball? We need to do whatever it takes to score runs and this team isn't doing it! :thumbdown

Tigers might push Pudge out the door?
Posada is a key componet in the Yankees Cog. He is also younger then pudge and better offensively and handles a superstar staff real well. I don't think he'd fit in NY. The Yankees will be keeping Posada (so i hope, i don't see them letting him go).

Deadline extension
Unless it's news they have a definite plan in place I think we won't here anything....any news or speculations, good or bad, will distract the team. If there's a will there's a way and there is a will to keep this team in Florida, it will get done.

i am so afraid
also look at next year I think juan pierre and juan encarncion r free agents and also gonzo and wow if were gonna sign cabrera by by by carlos JP isn't a free agent, Enc is but I think we can make him an offer depending on how he does down the stretch and, dare I say, post season. If he goes, he goes. Bye bye Carlos? Miggy isn't a free agent until before or after the 2009 season...he might reach arbitration but he wouldn't get that great of a raise since he is still under contract. No one should worry about the future of the Marlins, except for the front office. We can worry about this stuff after the season. Until then the time is now and we need to worry about the Marlins getting it done on the field now to get to the playoffs and make a run at a 3rd World Series title.

"67 Seconds..."
The only place you can hope for Marlins coverage is in South Florida. Despite the team being known as the "Florida" Marlins everywhere from Tampa/Orlando and north is Braves territory...before the Marlins and that baseball team they call the Devil Rays showed up the entire south east US was braves fans since they were the only team around in this part of the country. I think it starts with the fans down here, if people show up 25,000+ strong to every game more and more then news shows will start covering the team more. This team needs to step it up and play with some determination and get themselves on TV and into the minds of South Florida baseball fans like they did in 2003. This team seems to forget that baseball fans in South Florida have short memories because almost every baseball fan here has a team somewhere else (myself included).

Aaron Small
Plus he does have a pretty good offense behind him But when he's been starting the offense really hasn't been giving him that much run support...offense or no offense his era is sick in his starts...2.57 ERA in 6 starts

That was my last 1:00pm game
You all are probably the same "fans" that bitch about people bitching they don't go to games because it's too hot and now you are doing the same. We should just write the FO and ask them to move the games "we support the marlins but not on sundays, it's too hot". If the players can go out there and play a whole game we as fans can suck it up, have a beer and cheer them on, especially down the stretch when this team needs all the support they can get. It was worse today in NY and they sold Yankee Stadium out and they stayed even after it rained...TWICE. It didn't even rain today... It's the same in every other city (ie st louis, chicago, cincinatti, atlanta, philadelphia, the list goes on)...it's probably worse then florida and those teams sell out their games and some of them have even worse records then the marlins. It's summer EVERYWHERE, not just South Florida... I am glad that those of you who went today went but stop bitching

With the way our 5 have pitched lately....
key word is when our offense is healed...even when it's healed we still need to do better. That's why the hell we aren't in first place but hopefully we'll make our way there towards the end.

who went to the game
The wave is the dumbest, most distracting thing ever invented in sports history. The only reason people stand up is to see over the idiots in front of them when they do it. The only people that do the wave are the people who don't know a damn thing about what's going on in the game. There should be a law against it, i'm calling my senator tomorrow.

Lip reading beckett
Marlins announcers were talking about something about Josh was going to appologize to Randy Winn...does Josh think he went overboard w/ the emotion? Just wondering if anyone knew more to the story... Hope he keeps it up...the rest of the team could feed off him and get themselves looking like a real playoff team and put themselves on top before all is said and done.
