Posted September 20, 200519 yr Ok, so I signed up for an account about a week ago. I'm skimming thru some things and see something that catches my eye. I want to buy it, but I'm scared of using my credit card online. -How does this work? Are you supposed to make the bid before choosing your payment method, or wait until the end of the bid to choose your method of pay? -Is ebay as safe as amazon whe entering your card number? The answer to these questions and any additional information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
September 20, 200519 yr Sign up for Paypal if you wanna use your CC with eBay. Check with the seller's feedback before buying from them also. It's easy as.... something easy :| Anyways, check my auctions in the sig! [/spam]
September 20, 200519 yr Author Thanks. Any additional payments on ebay that i should know about, besides shipping and handling? Paypal link?
September 20, 200519 yr -How does this work? Are you supposed to make the bid before choosing your payment method, or wait until the end of the bid to choose your method of pay? You choose a method of payment and pay after you've won the auction. The seller indicates on the item page what methods of payment he/she accepts, so look at that before you bid. -Is ebay as safe as amazon whe entering your card number? There should be a paypal link on ebay. If you don't see it, just go to www.paypal.com. It's safe, but be aware that there are paypal scams going around, so be careful any time you get an email that requires you to click on an unusual-looking link to "login" to paypal. As far as being happy with your goods, like Nugget said, make sure the seller you're buying from looks reputable. If I were you, I'd make a paypal account and maybe even put a few bucks in there from my bank account before I went around bidding on things.
September 20, 200519 yr Author Ok, so i just added a bank account to pay pal and clicked "add bank account". So why does it say i am not verified?
September 20, 200519 yr Ok, so i just added a bank account to pay pal and clicked "add bank account". So why does it say i am not verified? 954141 I think you have to add a credit card to be verified.
September 20, 200519 yr Author Ok, why did i just have to add my bank account 2 times for it to go thru? and wtf is this?: PayPal will make two small deposits into your bank account.

September 20, 200519 yr In order to verify your bank account, payal makes two deposits into your bank account. Dont get too excited, the deposits are like 10 cents. Then, you check your bank account, tell payal exactly how much the deposits were. That way, they know its your bank account that you are using.
September 20, 200519 yr Paypal is not safe and they're not FDIC insured. Paypal "took" well over $5,000 from me a few years ago and it was a major ordeal and numerous letters threatening litigation from my attorney to get it back. I highly recommend viewing such as websites as www.paypalsucks.com You'll read some of those horror stories about people losing thousands of dollars and say that'll never happen to you... well it happened to me. Paypal goes around randomly freezing accounts with lot's of money in the balance for months on end to collect interest on it, they do this citing "fraudulent activity" even though there was no evidence whatsoever. They've gotten better since eBay bought them, but Paypal is not to be trusted under any circumstance and all of their fraud protection policies and whatnot that they advertise are a COMPLETE JOKE.

Sorry to hear that. Was this money taken from your paypal account, or bank account? :confused

Is this a hobby, or do you do it on a normal basis as a sort of side job? 956818 I'm talking about the W comment too :thumbup . I've had this for at least a few weeks, originally it was "George Bush hates AJ Burnett" but after the ugly loss to the Phillies I changed it from AJ to the Marlins, but i've had this in my sig for many many weeks now. I just sell stuff when I feel like making some quick cash or I lose interest in a hobby, such as what i'm doing right now. I'm going to be gradually selling off pretty much my entire sports memorabilia collection except for the items which actually mean something to me like my Marlins stuff, Ted Williams ball, Muhammad Ali gloves, and a few other things... but the rest is being sold. All that 150+ feedback you see in my eBay account is spanning back like 3 or 4 years, so it's not like it all came at once, just accumulated slowly over time and even then it's not that much and about half of it is from buying things.
