I was just thinking if next year, instead of going out and getting a left fielder that can produce we should give Willingham a shot at playing left field, and of course, Hermida at right. We know that Encarnacion might not come back, and well, if Lowell is moved then Cabs can play the hot corner. If lowell is not moved then, well, all this goes to crap. But if it could happen, would it be too much of a gamble? How much are we going to expect from the rookies? Your thoughts?

Hermida is a lock to be in RF next season, no doubts about that.

There's going to be rookie starters next year, one in the outfield. Any more than that is a little risky.

Hermida is our RF next year unless we add someone that moves Hermida in LF. Nothing against Willingham, but if we are trying to get Cabrera to 3B because of his poor defense in the OF, why would we put someone else in our starting OF that also has the makings of a defensively poor OF? Willingham is a nice prospect, but unless he can hit like Cabrera, I don't think any NL team would ignore his defensive problems and keep a guy like him at a position very long. Sad to say, but if Willingham is going to be an everyday player, it is most likely going to happen in the AL as a DH. That is if he doesn't hit like Cabrera or better.

I think that the only rookies that are going to be in the everyday lineup are Hermida and our local boy Andino. I'm rooting for Andino. Now, seeing what he has become, I don't have to feel so bad for getting burned by him in the past. Of course I want Hermida to live up to the hype too.

I expect 2 non-veterans in the OF.

Dogfish, I can't believe that I am actually interested in your thoughts, but here goes. What makes you think that they won't have someone with experience out there opposite Hermida? What are your thoughts? What guy do you think that they will go with?

By the way, I was entertained by your footer change. I remember that it used to say "Patience is a sign of maturity" and now it says "I'm losing patience with this team."

lf-Willy

cf-Pierre

rf-Hermida

If we have 2 "rookies" in the outfield, it'll be Hermida in RF and Aguila in CF(we might trade Pierre). I dont think Willingham sniffs a starting position.

I want to see if Willy can handle the day-to-day pressure of playing because he does seem to have good offensive skills. But yeah, I kinda think it is risky to have two rookies in the outfield. Who knows though, we'll have to wait i guess.

It did not gain us anything this year with Conine, Enc or Pierre. The manager kept putting these guys out there with only mediocre results (team wise). In general, I think the Marlins will go with the youth movement (like the Indians did), keeping Cabrera, Willis, Beckett as mainstays. Hermida might be there but if anything, I do expect an experienced CF to replace Pierre surrounded by two less experienced guys. In the IF, Cabrera, Andino, Castillo and a 1B. LoDuca will be the catcher.

As for the footer, disappointed as is everyone else but I was just reminded two weeks ago about a comment made by individuals in spring training stating that this "team" is not that good. I had high hopes like everyone else but only recently realized that these individuals predicted this from the beginning. Just could not rationalize with them.

Fair enough. Seems possible. I guess that no one except the Marlins brass know what's going to happen. We all wil see and hopefully, we all can be singing harmonious melodies as one next season.

I admit , in Spring Training, I didn't see a problem because I don't take Spring Training as seriously. I saw something after the second series with the Mets this year. That's when I started my attacks. Well, we all will have to wait for next year any way. Hopefully the fish make us happy next year.

How do you know this? He has a poor reputation as a catcher, three years into his trial. He was moved from third base not because of his fielding or his hitting, but had moved Miggy to third base, From what I've gathered he's been called slow behind the plate, especially when transferring to a throwing position. Seems rather minor when you consider that teams do not often run on a catcher, but the pitcher.

Miggy offers the best example of how questionable defense does not follow someone around the field. Miggy had problems moving from what most consider a tough position to play to a easy, Willingham would have to make the same switch, C to LF, a position he's played in the minors and more than just the 3 games Cabrera got before being called up.

In any case, I think Conine and/or another veteran will be retained to fight for the job with Willingham and Aguila.
