October 23, 200520 yr Author Its not the recievers fault here...granted they have dropped a few balls, but for the most part the balls have been out of reach or short. How many out patterns did Gus drop 5 feet in front of the reciever, I counted atleast 5 times, how many deep balls were 5 yards ahead of the reciever...bottom line is Gus has to go. If we're gonna lose, lose with someone who might be good...remember no one knew Tom Brady, a 5th round pick.
October 23, 200520 yr I saw Vince Young play yesterday against a horrible Texas Tech defense. He sucked. He overthrew WIDE open receivers, underthrew WIDE open receives and basically threw great passes to no one in particular. He is a faster and younger Gus Frerotte. I believe the #1 pick of the draft will be Reggie Bush. We have no use of geting Bush with both Ricky and Ronnie but we can always trade down for a bunch of draft picks (LT and RT!) and then sign a couple of veteran QBs and have them fight for the job.
October 23, 200520 yr What about Carson Palmer's little brother? Forgot who he plays for but he's the same exact height and weight...probably could get him for a lower round draft pick and might turn out to be pretty solid.

I agree with the sentiment regarding Vince Young. Regardless, we won't be picking #1 overall so it's moot. We'll likely pick anywhere from #3 through #10 overall. I think we take a CB, draft OL in the 2nd-5th rounds, then sign/trade for either Rivers, Carr, Harrington. I also hope we try to sign Clements or Azumah because our pass defense is abysmal.

October 24, 200520 yr I really wanted Sage to start next week against, but then I remembered that next week's game is in Baton Rouge against the Saints in their first game back in Louisiana since Katrina. I say throw Gus to the wolves before putting Sage in, because the last thing Sage needs is to be starting against a wounded animal ready to lash out at anything.

He has the tools to be a big time QB, but thus far, he's been kind of shaky. Still stares down his primary receivers too much and throws off his back foot. Stuff that is correctable and if he does it before he leaves UTEP, he could be a 1st round pick. My guess is he goes somewhere in the 3rd-4th Round in the 2007 Draft and becomes a career backup with some starting experience. If he comes out after this season...huge mistake.
