What is up with Alex Gonzalez?

Featured Replies

and I dont mean start Mordy for the rest of the year(give him some starts)....

but Alex needs a SLAP IN THE FACE right now...

0 for his last 18 or so is pathetic, he is guessing wrong on every pitch

i think it was last night he was fooled and he popped it up but it just went foul, the very next pitch(the same pitch) he was fooled again and popped out to 3B....

very frustrating

any other thoughts or comments?

i agree with you, it is pathetic. he's showing that his first half was just a fluke just like the first half in '99.

well, dont be mad at alex... hes had this trend post ASB since 1999...

ozzie needs to do something though... the only thing ozzie is good for is to communicate to venezuelans on the team.

he's not just bad in the 2nd half, he's bad most of the time. he was bad for the last 3 years and a half, ended the bad string in the first half this year and has come back to his ways.

although you really cant bench him for a long period because his defense is great, Mordi cant give us the type of D Alex can.

post ASB stats:

(102ab) .206avg 1hr 9rbi 4bb 26k

look at this, his avg by month:

April: .352

May: .310

June: .268

July: .220

August: .158

this is not good

not good? its more like revolting

I think that Alex will come throught though now that Mordi has been starting a couple games, though i think the marlins keep him in there for the same reason about DLee, very good defensive player, but has the potential to hit very well but not material yet

DLee produces, just not in key situations.

So does Alex Gonzalez

Sea Bass just doesn't produce period.

the idea about potential is good for a year or two. he's been in the bigs for more than 4 years now, this his 5th season. you have to concede that the potential will never be realized after a cetain point.

im not going to say anything about Dlee in order to avoid another Jerry Springer type argument/brawl

HE is slumpng Badly! He was hitting good up to now. I am Afraid he is turning back to the old Alex....

He isnt hitting with RISP. He always comes up with RISP and Either Strikes out or pops up!

the nice thing about Alex early on was that he was delivering hits in big situations too. i really thought he'd turned it around at the plate. he can't even seem to hit mistake pitches right now, just fouls off everything. it hasn't been as glaring lately since Cabrera's been hitting in the #7 spot, but we need Alex to contribute. i wish he'd be more patient up there and wait on the ball.

at the beginning of the year anything that he hit would fall in between the infielder and the outfielder. Now hes not staying back he wants to be the hero too much. he needs to change cause we gonna need him.

i wish he'd be more patient up there and wait on the ball.

Me too but he has to swing more since the Pitcher is coming after him. You dont want the pitcher to be hitting with RISP.

STOP IT NOW

this is an Alex bashing thread, not a Derrek thread

I'm suprised no one has said "put Castro in at SS"

dont worry, someone will

I believe Alex problems is all mental. WTF, he steps on the plate with the "oh fuc again, another strikeout" look on his face!

Alex is a very good shortstop. Possibly great if we had a shrink on the bench. Since we don't have a resident shrink, give him some time off to re-focus. Use Mordy and Fox. (Fox is over-due to get his stick in action.)
