If we trade LoDuca..

Featured Replies

..who can we count on to be our catcher? Can we count on Willy? Has there been anything in the media about him possibly being our catcher next year?

No, but there was a report of him being in the starting lineup next year (LF) which puts him two-thirds of the way there. If LoDuca is traded, which I don't think is likely, I can't imagine the club will go with some cheap veteran options although it's possible. But without any catching prospects in the system or any impressive catchers on free agent market in recent years or projected to be in future seasons (save Javy Lopez in 03 and AJ Pierzynski in 05), that wouldn't make sense.

treanor would get the starter role. Willingham behind the plate = take a base please.

But either way I doubt loduca is going anywhere.

I would hope to God we'd get a cheap FA catcher to start. Treanor is like Redmond- a decent backup, but I don't want him in the lineup every day. And I don't think the Marlins think Willy's future is behind the plate.

I hope they do the trade w/ Boston and tell them to add shoppach

Thats what I am thinking a bit as well, he is blocked for 2-3 years in Boston behind Tek, he is a good tradeable commodity.
