fauowls44
ESPN's Peter Gammons is reporting that the Red Sox will acquire Josh Beckett and Mike Lowell from the Marlins for Hanley Ramirez, Anibal Sanchez and a player to be named. If only Beckett could be counted on to throw 200 innings, it might be worth it for the Red Sox. As is, with Lowell's salary included and two of the 50-best prospects in baseball being surrendered, it's probably too much to pay. The Red Sox should try to spin Lowell on to another team, though they'll have to eat maybe half of the $18 million he's owed over the next two years. The Twins are believed to be interested. Accord
They think the Red Sox got screwed? They only acquired a proven big game pitcher who will be their ace for the next 15 years. And with Renteria at SS, it was easy for the Sox to have the luxury of giving up HanRam.
Fish Tank Frenzy
I agree with what was said. In two years this team could have some of the best at their positions. Ramirez, Cabs, Hermida, DTrain and Sanchez are all studs and they are under 25.
PBMarlin
It all sounds good. If we are going to have to get younger then this is a great deal for the Marlins. Only time will tell, but we could be praising this deal next year when Beckett goes on the DL a few times again.

The only real reason this doesn't bother me is because did get two amazing prospects...and Beckett isn't exactly the most dependable. The man constantly gets hurt. We'll see I guess, but this gets rid of Lowell and while our pitching staff will be meh our system has a goldmine in pitching prospects. Beastie
Beckett has yet to throw over 176 innings Im not saying that we shouldve traded Beckett but at least we got a good deal.
Marlins2003
I think it's great for Josh, and in the long run, it's great for the Fish. Now we move forward.
