Ya Cape, they make a fair point. The parking at this school is adominable, and a LOT of freshman don't have cars. I know you've been to the campus I'm sure, but it really isn't 'that' big, and anything that's anything is right off campus (bars, clubs, food, etc). Everything is within walking distance or the campus bus. Honestly, walking from one extreme of the campus (NW) to the other extreme (SE) for my English class only took me about 15 minutes.

Anyway, just giving you a friendly heads up. And if you do bring your car up, you'll notice immediately that you won't want to move it (especially if you live in a dorm on the east side of campus, where parking is INSANE)

I've driven around and parked at the school during an early Fall weekend...it is busy I imagine, but I won't be on-campus because I have a younger bro likely coming 2 years after and rent anywheres is crazy for a term of 6 years at the least.

A Honda Civic would not be bad...but it has a 4 cylinder, can't tow, and sits low.

When is a 6 cylinder engine not a 6 cylinder engine?

When it's in a Chevy Colorado/GMC Canyon/Isuzu i-Series truck:

4) Chevrolet Colorado

I am adding it on the basis that it is a good pickup and the gas mileage is reasonable...even out the count.

I would go with the Jeep Liberty. My father drives a 2004 Liberty and he uses it for work. From what i've seen its pretty reliable, he has the 4x4 package; perfect for hurricane debris.

I myself drive a 2006 Fusion, very nice, would recommend it for anyone.

I love the Fusion and was looking into it, but I get into places where I need the Liberty's clearance. However, the Fusion's V6 is sweet.

Not sure which Chevy truck it is, but they have a new hybrid pickup

It's the silverado, comparable to the Ford F-150. It starts at $32k and goes to $36k. The hybrid gets an amazing, astonishing 9 mpg.

I have the Duratec 24V V6. I love it, its a great college car.

This looks pretty much like mine.

An amazing 9 MPG....can't a standard Dodge Ram or Ford F-150 do that?

Yeah, but the Hybrid is of the Heavy Duty Silverado, usually used for job sites.

You could get a real nice F-150 for about $19,000

I need to be able to tow the boat and possibly some trailers. I know my needs, I want to know if anyone has comments on the 3 vehicles.

Das,

The Ranger is a distant second, but which engine did you have and did you ever tow with it?

v6 flex fuel. and i never towed with it, i did stack it up though for moves however.

the chevy silverado hybrid is a joke....almost as hilarious as the ford escape hybrid.

If you want to just completely destroy your gas and want to do it in an American car, why don't you do it in style and buy a Mustang?

Escape

one of my friends has it, really spacious inside, nice to drive, and he has never had a problem with it in the 3 years he has had it

The Colorado is fruity.

I'd much rather have a Dakota.

I like the Dakota, but the engine gets 16 MPG in the city....and people I know with it get even worse! (Around 10-12 MPG)
