August 31, 200323 yr Author i actually like the move by Ed Wade because this allows Pratt or Stinnet to PH when Lieberthal is catching in September and still have another catcher available in case Lieberthal has to leave the game for some reason. Hoefully Mr. Wade can get us another reliable arm, but i'm satisfied with a 3rd catcher for september now

August 31, 200323 yr Author i don't think he'll make a big difference, but it is key when you can pinch hit a catcher late in the game and still have a catcher in case anything happens to your starter. Stinnett is pretty solid defensively as well, he could start some games over Pratt when Lieberthal needs a day off. I'm pleased with the deal - I think it can help us late in games.

What I want to know if this will effect Pratt's normal one to two starts a week or if Stinnett will be permanant fixture on the bench.

The Phillies are going to roar out in front of the wildcard race because of a third string catcher they got from Cinci that cleared waivers and has the potential for some pop! Now if Wade worried about the pitching and the bullpen, the Phillies might actually do something.
