March 1, 200620 yr Per ESPN.com http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2349505 I could have sworn the Phins were only 10 million over. Did those incentive based contracts kick in another 10 million?
March 1, 200620 yr Damn the new CBA not getting done. Some big, big, big, big heads are going to roll come Thursday across the league. I am extremely nervous about tommorrow.
March 1, 200620 yr Author That 21.9 million dollar overage for the Fins can't be right, can it? I thought I remember Saban giving out a bunch of incentive laden contracts which were triggered once the Phins went on that 6 game winning streak. It just doesnt make sense that Saban would do that. Did he think we couldn't win last year LOL? Those numbers are accurate tho.
March 1, 200620 yr Question: How can the Raiders possibly get worse? Answer: You're about to find out. 26 Mil over is insane. Also, watching the Skins being torn apart will be rich. Shawn Springs anyone?
March 1, 200620 yr Author Also, watching the Skins being torn apart will be rich. Shawn Springs anyone? That and them starting 20 rookies next year.
March 1, 200620 yr Thank god we're under the cap with all this nonsense going on. Granted, if the NFL truly goes uncapped (not talking about 07, they have a bunch of crazy rules in place to make it ok), I'll probably be done with the league anyway, since my team will be the KC Royals.
March 1, 200620 yr 26 million over is ridiculous but that number can be reduced significantly by cutting Gibson and dumpin Collins somewhere, I'm sorry but he isnt worth the $11 million he is due this year.
March 1, 200620 yr Author Jeb Putzier - TE - Broncos Broncos released TE Jeb Putzier. Only a year after matching a handsome offer sheet Putzier signed with the Jets, the Broncos have decided Putzier isn't the answer. Denver could take advantage of the deep rookie class at tight end with one of their two first-round picks. Mar. 1 - 5:21 pm et Rod Smart - RB - Panthers Panthers released RB Rod "He Hate Me" Smart. It was all downhill for Smart when he announced in training camp that he was changing his nickname to "He Love Me" as part of a sponsorship. Jamal Robertson will take over his return man/emergency tailback role. Mar. 1 - 5:00 pm et Stephen Davis - RB - Panthers Panthers released RB Stephen Davis. He was never the same after microfracture surgery last offseason and his career is possibly over. If so, Davis will be remembered for topping 1,300 yards four times in a five-year span between 1999-2003. DT Brentson Buckner and RB Rod Smart were also released. Mar. 1 - 4:56 pm et Sam Adams - DL - Bills Bills released DT Sam Adams. The former Pro Bowler is being released for diminished play, poor attitude, and a $3.5 million cap savings. He struggled without Pat Williams next to him and was benched during the 2005 season. Adams will still be an attractive run-clogger for some team. Mar. 1 - 1:54 pm et Damion McIntosh - T - Dolphins Dolphins released T Damion McIntosh. McIntosh was arrested recently after striking his wife and didn't play well in 2005, so this was an easy decision. The Dolphins are in the market for a new starting left tackle. Mar. 1 - 5:35 pm et More to come...
March 1, 200620 yr This is just stupid, they need to get the CBA done and stop dicking around. I mean, the Bengals stand to benefit from this in the short-term as we have money to sign some of these casulaties, but this still sucks. ?People are going to be stunned -- not just by the quantity of players who are cut by Thursday but by the quality, too. It's going to be ugly. There's going to be blood in the streets and, compared to past years, it's going to be from some bluebloods, guys who can still play.? -AFC Team Executive Bloody Thursday is gonna be lame.
March 1, 200620 yr Author f***ing pathetic this CBA is. And to think its mostly over the owners arguining over revenue sharing.
March 1, 200620 yr Author Mark Campbell - TE - Bills Bills released TE Mark Campbell. Buffalo does not have a pass-catching tight end on the roster except Kevin Everett, who is coming off a torn ACL. They will do their homework on Maryland's Vernon Davis. Mar. 1 - 5:43 pm et Lawyer Milloy - DB - Bills Bills released safety Lawyer Milloy. Championship rings don't feed your family, but they would ease the sting of getting released twice in three seasons. Milloy played fairly well when healthy, but was a victim of his high pricetag here. He'll probably find a starting job. Mar. 1 - 5:41 pm et Dolphins Release Four, Sign Kicker March 1, 2006 The Miami Dolphins today terminated the contracts of cornerbacks Reggie Howard and Sam Madison (pictured), safety Tebucky Jones and tackle Damion McIntosh. In addition on Wednesday, the team signed kicker Ola Kimrin and allocated him to the NFL Europe League. Kimrin spent five games with the Washington Redskins in 2004 and hit on all six of his PATs and 6-10 field goal attempts, including a long of 41. He was in training camp with Tennessee last year before being waived by the Titans on August 24. The 6-3, 230-pounder also attended NFL training camps with Denver (2002) and Dallas (2003). In addition, he played with the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europe in both 2001 and 2002. The native of Malmo, Sweden attended the University of Texas-El Paso, where he played for three seasons (1996-98). He was born on February 29, 1972. http://www.miamidolphins.com/pressbox/pres...?contentID=4365
March 1, 200620 yr Author Mark Brunell - QB - Redskins Redskins and Mark Brunell have agreed to a restructured contract. Brunell took umbrage with a report in the Washington Post earlier Wednesday. "I do not like when I am written about in the paper and it is incorrect," Brunell said. He's the favorite to start over Jason Campbell next season. Mar. 1 - 6:03 pm et Source: Redskins.com Good news for Skins fans
March 1, 200620 yr Madison cut.....that hurts. Even though I knew it was probably coming. Good luck Sam, many thanks for all the great years you gave us. :notworthy
March 1, 200620 yr Author Chris Simms - QB - Buccaneers Chris Simms' one-year contract is worth $2.1 million. Simms probably got an extra $100,000 for giving up the right to sign an offer sheet with another team. He wasn't going anywhere in 2006 either way. Mar. 1 - 6:16 pm et Source: Tampa Tribune Not sure how accurate these numbers are but: Reggie Howard 1,000,000 Tebucky Jones 6,500,000 Sam Madison 2,625,000 Damion Mcintosh 4,275,000 14,400,000 cut from Phins cap.
