Spring Training Game #3

vs

Date: March 4, 2006

Time: 1:05 P.M. ET

Pitching Matchup:

vs.

Sidney Ponson/Anthony Reyes (Cardinals) vs. Scott Olsen (Marlins)

Scheduled to Pitch:

Cardinals:

RHP Sidney Ponson, RHP Anthony Reyes, LHP Rich Rundles, RHP Brad Thompson, RHP Andy Cavazos

Marlins:

LHP Scott Olsen, RHP Ricky Nolasco, RHP Eddie Gaillard, LHP Josh Stewart

Notes:

- When Scott Olsen takes the mound on Saturday against the Cardinals, it will be his first actual game action since last July 16.

- Non-roster invitee Scott Spiezio has made an outstanding impression thus far, with four hits -- two for extra bases -- in five at-bats. He has a hit in each of the Cardinals' three games, including the exhibition against Florida Atlantic. Spiezio's two extra-base hits on Friday night equaled his regular-season total from 2005, which he tallied in 47 at-bats.

- Aaron Miles had just as big a day at the plate as Spiezio, racking up five base hits from the leadoff spot, but he endured some adventures on the base paths. In the eighth, he was called out on appeal for not touching third base. Miles came home from second when John Gall reached on an error, but on appeal he was retired, ending the inning.
