A new Pope came in and had them all wiped out. It is speculated that this is where George Lucas got the idea for Jedi/Palpatine.

March 9, 200620 yr Author Tom Hanks, Audrey Tatou, Ian McKlellan, Alfred Molina, Paul Bettany Talk about a star-studded cast. Although Tom Hanks is about 10 years older than Robert Langdon is supposed to be, I guess that's ok. And Ian McKlellan is a LOT thinner than Teebee (sp), but that's ok too. I'm stoked for the film. And even if it is, you're banking on it being one of the two or three best movies of the year. It's got a pretty good chance, but those are still pretty tough odds for any movie. Interesting trivia from IMDB.com: "24" (2001) creator Joel Surnow thought that "The DaVinci Code" would provide a great storyline for the show's third season. Surnow asked his boss, producer Brian Grazer about acquiring the film rights to the book. Author Dan Brown had no intention of his book being adapted for a TV show, and rejected their bid. Months later, Sony Pictures paid $6 million for the book and hired Grazer as producer. Director Ron Howard's first ideal choice for the part of Robert Langdon was Bill Paxton but Paxton wasn't able to fit the film into his schedule. Howard then began to look into many other actors that included Russell Crowe, Ralph Fiennes, Hugh Jackman, George Clooney and Tom Hanks. Crowe was the running favorite until, ultimately, Howard and producer Brian Grazer decided on Tom Hanks. How does Bill Paxton turn down this movie? If you're Bill Paxton, you friggin' make it work cause I can't think of anything Bill Paxton has done in 5 years. Although I think he's on an HBO show that starts this Sunday. Unless that's Bill Pullman.

March 10, 200620 yr You guys are mixing your Pullmans and Paxtons up. Pullman was in Independence Day. He's pretty much a turd. Paxton's done some cool things. He was awesome in Aliens and True Lies. And also in A Simple Plan. Pullman really hasn't done sh*t.
March 10, 200620 yr The book is awesome albeit sensationalized, historically speaking. I liked Angels and Demons better as far as entertainment. Can't wait to see the movie though.

March 10, 200620 yr Author Paxton's demeanor and personality fit this movie perfectly. Robert Langdon is a kind of straight-forward, all-American intellectual. Paxton has the look, the acting background and similarity in age/depiction of Langdon. Hanks is a bit of a stretch for my imagination, but I haven't seen him act it out yet so I can't say for sure. I did think they'd consider 'Powder' to play Silas, the albino assassin.
March 10, 200620 yr Author Tom Hanks is freaking awesome. That guy can play anything. Ya that's why I'm reserving judgement. To me, one of his best roles was the Krakozian (sp) traveler in 'The Terminal' He can take on any character and make it work, so I'm very hopeful.
March 10, 200620 yr Author I think they should have casted Johnny Depp :wub: Dude is doing two sequels to POTC simulatenously and that other huge movie as well. But ya, he'd work nicely too. Also, I think they could have considered Matthew Fox... :whistle . He has the determined, intellectual attitude.
