The following films are being released today for the weekend:

-Find Me Guilty

-V for Vendetta

-She's the Man

-Thank You For Smoking (limited)

Of these films, the two must-see ones have to be V for Vendetta, and Thank You For Smoking (if it is playing in your area).

V is the adaptation of a graphic novel that imagines a future England with a government that rules by fear, or basically future-Nazis. It certainly brings out a lot of the 1984/Fahrenheit 451 comparisons, but it incorporates the dark future aspects with a superhero-type of figure. It's getting plenty of positive press, and will likely win the box office this weekend.

Thank You For Smoking is the film adaptation of a novel published in 1995, which is a dark-comedy satire of the tobacco industry. The film also takes a look at the lobbyists for alcohol and firearms as well.

Find Me Guilty, one of the first films by Sidney Lumet (Serpico, Dog Day Afternoon) in years, is getting blasted by critics for the miscasting of Vin Diesel as a mobster. The primary complaint is that the film can never decide whether it is trying to be a serious courtroom drama, or a more comedic courtroom movie, in the vein of My Cousin Vinny.

I have no comments on "She's the Man," I'll let you guys figure that one out.

But if you want to see a good film this weekend, go see "V for Vendetta" or "Thank You For Smoking."

I've seen like 948250934850938405943805983409580934 comercials for "V for Vendetta" that I now kind of want to see the movie. Going to see if I can get to it sometime this week.

It is a great visual flick. Supposedly Portman's British accent sucks, but Hugo Weaving is teh man.

Elrond in Lord of the Rings

Agent Smith in The Matrix

Only other person in cinematic history to be involved in two blockbuster trilogies would have to be Harrison Ford.

Here's my review of V for Vendetta, taken from my post at boxofficemojo:

A+

Absolutely spectacular.

The acting was just about perfect. Though I can't judge whether Natalie's accent was spot on or not, not being English, I will say that Natalie Portman gave the performance of her life. She's just so raw emotionally in the film, it's so powerful. After the torture sequences, she gives some of the best acting I've ever seen.

Hugo Weaving is able to take a entirely blackened, masked figure and create one of the most memorable characters in the history of cinema.

The story is very detailed and connects very well.

The whole film makes you think, and is very moving at times.

By the time I was done with it my head was absolutely spinning.

It's great, just great.

I don't always trust Rotten Tomatoes.

For instance, a couple weeks ago I went to see 'Running Scared'.

It was like 12% (or worse) on RT...I thought it was pretty good.

Saw V for Vendetta tonight.

It was pretty good. It starts and ends fantastically. The middle is overlong by about 15 minutes...some of that definitely could have been cut out without losing anything from the movie.

There was very little subtlety as far as the film's message and it's attempt to draw connections to our current administration.

One complaint: you know from about 10 minutes in exactly how the movie's going to end thanks to all the trailers they've been showing on TV.

Oh my god, V for Vendetta was so f-ing amazing. I agree it was a little dragged in the middle but it didn't even do the movie harm, it was so powerful and kickass. I definitely recommend to see it, guys.

And woohoo, Inside Man next week!

I find RT to be pretty reliable. You're the only person I've heard say that they enjoyed that movie.

i saw Dave Chapelle's Block party last night, and it was wonderful,i though.

it was pretty much a filmed concert, but i loved the music in it. talib kweli, the roots, dead prez, mos def, and the FUGEES reunion. also, im not really a fan of kanye west, jill scott, or common, but they all sounded great. one or two songs by each artist.

and there were some jokes thrown in through the whole movie, and they made me laugh more than i would have at any other modern comedy.

and they somehow managed to fit a message in there also.

i dunno, i loved it.

V for Vendetta is already in my personal Top 5 of all time.

I find no fault with it at all. It's just plain amazing.
