March 25, 200620 yr who's who? ... busy offseason I know that many players have now switched teams, signed lucrative free agent contracts, took advantage of fire sales or simply made the right moves in the offseason what teams has made the most out of the offseason on either league ? even on a finacial level ?
March 25, 200620 yr Toronto. The other two (Mets, Red Sox) either didn't improve as much as their fans would have you think, or took a lot of risks on players who may or may not thrive in a big market.
March 25, 200620 yr yeah, i think i'd go with toronto too. i still don't they'll make the playoffs though.
March 25, 200620 yr I'd say Toronto. They got some quality young players, they over paid but you kind of have to lure big players to smaller markets and especially Canada.
March 25, 200620 yr Definitely Toronto. Burnett Ryan Overbay Glaus Added a power pitcher, a closer, and two power hitters they desperately needed. You can also mention the improvement in the young players they already have.
March 25, 200620 yr The Jays def improved the most of any team but i think it's true the Red Sox and the Mets made some moves that may be risky but could definately pay off in the end.
March 25, 200620 yr The Blue Jays had a great offseason. No further explanation needed. As for the Marlins, many people think they had the worst offseason. I think the Marlins will prove people wrong once they get a stadium deal for Hialeah and some of the young players start pwning on the major league level.
March 25, 200620 yr I also think Toronto... but for the sake of mixing it up a little bit i'm going to also say: San Diego! Like Toronto, they've also had a drastic make over... Mike Cameron Mike Piazza Vinny Castilla Shawn estes Chris Young Mark Belhorn I think they have like 19 new players... i'm very curious to see how they do. But i'm still saying Toronto is better... just putting another team out there
March 25, 200620 yr Almost forgot the Rangers. The added pitching to a team that could already swing the bat. I seriously think if this team pitches they can finish ahead of an Angels team that may have a lot of question marks on offense.
March 25, 200620 yr On paper, it's the Blue Jays. They certainly had the busiest offseason of any other team. However, the Mets had really busy offseasons for several years in the 1990's, and they never went anywhere.
March 25, 200620 yr Author I think the Mets are only short a good starting pitcher from an exellent all around team and im sure they will be doing some more dealing before the all star break
March 25, 200620 yr I think the Mets are only short a good starting pitcher from an exellent all around team and im sure they will be doing some more dealing before the all star break Only thing is they don't have much quality to deal after all they've done, and the little they have that could bring back top-flight talent (Milledge, Pelfry, Bannister) they're reluctant to move at all. After all they've done, I'm still shocked they didn't make more serious runs at one of AJ/Milwood/Weaver.
March 26, 200620 yr White Sox and A's did well for themselves A lot of teams did well for themselves, but the mere notion of a WS champion being considered for "Most Improved" is ridiculous.
March 26, 200620 yr Toronto and the Mets are right up there. Getting Delgado by himself is a hell of an upgrade. And the White Sox too; if they can get Thome going, omg, that's scary.
March 26, 200620 yr White Sox and A's did well for themselves A lot of teams did well for themselves, but the mere notion of a WS champion being considered for "Most Improved" is ridiculous. True, but the mere notion someone could care who is the most improved is ridiculous as well.
March 27, 200620 yr Most improved team has to be the Boston Redsox. Their going to win the World Series, I know this.
March 27, 200620 yr Author True, but the mere notion someone could care who is the most improved is ridiculous as well. why is that? ... is it just all a prediction on who's winning what and what not? Im glad for the Blue Jays, I honestly did not know much about their moves ... Isnt improvement when you get a fire baller #1 type pitcher, a great up and coming closer and a couple of well established players to a team already with a surplus of young talent I care about that ... I cant be bothered to find out on my own
March 28, 200620 yr What team rose from the bottom to the top in one offseason is not something I consider interesting. How the Braves, Twins and A's are consistently competitive I find incredibly interesting.
March 28, 200620 yr Author What team rose from the bottom to the top in one offseason is not something I consider interesting. March 29, 200620 yr Definitely Toronto. Burnett Ryan Overbay Glaus Added a power pitcher, a closer, and two power hitters they desperately needed. You can also mention the improvement in the young players they already have. Although I didn't like the look of Vernon Wells in the WBC, I'd have to agree. Toronto has definately taken advantage of the free agent market. Overbay was a great player for the Brewers. Same case with Glaus when he hit 37 homers for the D-Backs. They'll be a force this season.
March 29, 200620 yr The Yankees :plain No really, in all seriousness I say Toronto for reasons already mentioned and the Mets. I say the Mets because I am Paul LoDuca's biggest groupie.
