Can someone fill me in this tad bit of History, JUST got into baseball and the marlins last mayKenny Lofton was with the Phillies at the time (I believe). Anyways, it's the middle of the game and Josh is pitching well in a tight ball game. Lofton, on a 3-2 pitch, draws ball four. He flips his bat all exagerrated and begins to manifest "walk" quite literally. He did not expect, however, a visitor in form of an angry Josh Beckett on his way to first. Josh had taken exception to Lofton's pimping a walk, made sure he knew about it. Lofton, probably knowing he was outmached, kinda just walked it off and headed to first while both benches watched from the top step of their respective dugouts. Nothing came of it during the actual game.

I dunno if I am messing with a team that has Pena, Ortiz, Man Ram, and pshyco Taveras on it.

Seems like a bad idea.

Josh didn't like the other guy's attitude and told him straight. Anybody can snap at the media and fans (Burnett), but it takes some cojones to take on a big mofo like Howard. My opinion of Beckett is not diminshed in any way by this story.

Oh how quickly some fans turn against a former team member. I just don't get where people are calling him a punk with a holier than thou attitude. I bet if he were still a Marlin everyone would love his show of competitive spirit, and not bash him. He never left this team, he was traded. And he had plenty of kind words about the team he left after he was traded, too.

Some of these threads wishing AJ injury, and the like make me sick.

me too. aj is a weak little punk. beckett has some balls. and he showed it during game 6 of the 2003 world series. :thumbup like jack said, he's got the guts of a burglar.

I don?t have a problem with this. One thing I always liked about Beckett is that he usually will admit publicly if he thinks he did something wrong. He?s cocky but yet still capable of being critical of himself, admitting mistakes and has shown the ability to laugh at himself. If he lets his emotions get the better of him sometimes so be it. No one's perfect.

If Josh Beckett never does another positive thing in his life I will be still be eternally grateful for the '03 postseason. As I recall, the Sosa confrontation had everyone pretty fired up. These type of players can't always turn it on and off.
