I think the biggest problem with the Simpsons lately isn't just that they are running out of ideas. For a long time, they used to take on current issues, like South Park does now. I mean, who doesn't remember Homer fighting it out with former President George H.W. Bush?

 

Over the years they've tacked immigration, gay marriage, parenting, crime, politics, corporate America, race, gender, ethnicity, etc. I think they need to go back to talking about real issues, at least somewhat, rather than just having Bart get in trouble or Homer getting involved in another crazy scheme.

Wow...an hour and a half of Homer meeting random celebrities and having several misadventures, one which will probably involve a falling out and reconciliation with Lisa, being thrown out and let back in with Marge, and at least 20 minutes of "why you little" and the obligitory strangling of Bart.
