April 7, 200620 yr I'd rather see Reed stay and send down Aguila. If it comes down to a choice of Reed or Aguila on the roster and the rest of the team is the same, it has to be Reed. Reed right now is our ace pinch runner and I'm sure will after a while get his bat at least decently in order. Aguila's purpose right now is defensive replacement #1 and PH #2 I guess. I really don't think he has any sort of Major League hitting ability, and we don't need a defensive replacement this year as much as we did last year. Everyone plays above average defense in the OF except Hammer, and he plays average (hell he made a diving catch yesterday). Plus, in no close games is the cleanup/five hitter coming out. Cepicky offers more bat and good defense, twice what Aguila brings to the table. If he continues to struggle, I hope Matt gets the call.
April 7, 200620 yr bring strokes up because trennor sucks and so does reed sigh My sentiments exactly.
April 7, 200620 yr I'd like another basher on the bench. They do need some more pop, or atleast a threat of it. But I'd like to see a starting calibre CF on in the roster organization first. Same here, but I'd hold out for a young CFer which projects to be an above-average starter for his tenure.
April 7, 200620 yr I know this is slightly off topic, but will we use the upper rounds of the draft to get position players or are we going to stick with the pitching philosophy?

Best player avaliable. This isn't football where you draft for need. If 3B is the guy on your board, draft him, and figure out where he goes in two years.

Aguila has always produced when he gets the opportunity to play everyday. He did it in the minors and in spring training this year, my guess is he's givng Reed and Abercrombie the opportunities to fail or succeed before doing the same with CA. If he succeeds the problem is solved. If he fails at least we know where we are and Joe can make another decision. This is after all, an audition for the rest of the decade.
April 7, 200620 yr Anyone else wishing we had an extra bat on the bench? More equipment would be nice. haha, SERVED!
