It was bad enough that they got an Oscar for a rap song, we don't need them in politics.

Could you be anymore racists?

How is that racist? I just don't like rap. It has nothing to do with them being black.

Hillary will never win election, she wont even win the primaries, I'm still waiting to hear a certain poster here explain how Hillary will win the primaries.

Is that me?

How will Hilary win the primaries? Very simply, she's ridiculously popular. I have no doubt that in a primary, which, as we all know, have low turnouts, enough far leftists and feminists would blindly vote for her, and added to the number of people who would simply agree with her and actually like her, it would be enough to put her over the top. This is especially true if there is no moderate like Warner on the ticket and her biggest threat was a Kerry or an Edwards who couldn't get the job done in 2004. Right now I think Biden is her biggest competitor, but something tells me he won't even run. Of course, I have absolutely nothing to base that on.

You do realize that Warner is definitely running right? He was beating George Allen in the 2006 VA senate polls and some people tried to get him to throw his hat in there, but he absolutely refused. There is usually only one reason someone who is on a political rocket would choose to forego a chance at a national senate seat-the biggest prize of them all. Plus his PAC is racking up the money.

Here is the ironic thing-far leftists are apparently locked on to their far left views, hence making them far leftists. But they will blindly vote for someone regardless of their position on issues, even if that person doesnt argue far left positions...but that means these people are far leftists anymore. How does that work?

Here is the reality absent vague generalization. The left doesnt like Hillary as much as people would like to think. Rank and file dems and people who are solidly left are not the same people. If they were, Dean would have easily won the 2004 nomination. Rank and file dems might be into the Hillary thing right now.

But the left generally isnt. She has been pretty solid in her belief that we shouldnt leave Iraq anytime soon-a terrible position to have if you want the left. She has made major concesions on a number of other issues that have really alienated her from the left. She is loved by the DLC, the centrist group the left hates(moreso for their Republican light approach). She has avoided major controversy by not fighting Bush very much.

In fact, people really dont like her on the left. The real golden boy of the left is Russ Feingold. He has fought hard for civil liberties and against Iraq. He is the guy who is taking a page out of Dean's book and going to the left for support to carry his campaign.(btw, I love Feingold. He actually fights for principles. But this strategy usually doesnt work either on the left or the right).

Here is the strategy Hillary might end up winning with. It could end up being an attempt to stake out certain positions. Clearly Hillary is the name most thrown out right now. She has the block of rank and file dems who love her and the Clinton legacy. Feingold will then stake out the itching to fight left block. He will get a lot of democrats who want out of Iraq tomorrow, no questions asked. Then there will be an enormouns race for the "dont want Hillary, give me someone electible" block of voters. This is a huge group and is the key to winning the nomination. Guys like Warner, Bayh, Clark, Richardson, and Edwards could end up causing this block to get divided and torn up. That could end up leaving Hillary with a plurality victory. And therein lies the problem. One of those guys needs to take that block over. Warner is capable of doing it. But if he doesnt seperate himself from the pack, it could be bad.

But the other possibility is that he steals enough people from the Hillary loyalist block and gets enough from the electibility block to eake it out. Im not sure where Biden fits into all of this.

Of course its way too early to tell.

There is a few things I think the Democrats should look over.

Although Hillary is a possible canidate, I dont think running the first woman for the presidency durring war time is going to help them win much.

Second I believe that rehashing edwards/kerry would be foolish to the extreme. Edwards couldnt help with the south and Kerry, well he was a mistake in the 1st place.

Clark still has few political assistance and I have notice alot of past war generals in history seem to do pretty poorly in office at first. (Grant, ike, etc.) although some have done well overall.

Personally if I was the democrats, I would be looking first to capture control of the senate and the House in the upcoming elections. I believe that will be very very important. If they can do that and start to fix the redistricting that the republicans did for the voting areas that might help their causes.

I would also look into 2 major things to consdier for the next presidency.

1. Govenors do better overall then senators when running for the office of President. So find a well liked Govenor and see him on the ticket either for VP or President.

2. The large amount of spanish vote could be swung more if they put up a spanish canidate. There has never been a spanish canidate on a ticket in recent years and I believe it could help them out.

as for the republican ticket I believe it will be McCain/Jeb (god I hate Jeb). Sets up Jeb for a future running, gives them the govenor of florida upon the ticket (key swing state), and explains McCains swing more to the right. Wasnt he once a democrat?

just my two cents to consider.

I know that would be one of your dreams come true to see Hillary win the Democratic nomination. Its not happening.

Besides I really believe Warner is putting his hat in the ring.

And if he doesnt, I'll take your bet that Hillary wouldnt win the nomination. I give the Democrats a bit more credit than you do that they wont nominate someone fully unelectable. Besides they will have plenty of time to put a woman in the White House, she isnt the right candidate and most Democrats know this.

I definitely don't want Hillary to win the nomination, because I'm scared that with all the anti-Republican sentiment and all the people who look back fondly on Bill's presidency, she might somehow win the election. I know that Democrat party leaders are smart enough to realize Hillary is unelectable right now, but unfortunately we have a little thing called primaries, and I do NOT believe that the general public is smart enough to realize it.

It all means jackshit to me until he actually announces it.

There is a ton of anti-Jeb sentiment in Florida. Additionally, with the anti-Bush sentiment around the nation, running GWB's brother would kill the ticket off the bat. Not to mention Jeb is a moron and he would get slaughtered in any debate. I'm honestly expecting McCain and Gingrich on the same ticket.

Biden is the only one who has pubicly announced his candidacy.

I mean, we don't need to hear these guys say it to know...Hilary hasn't said anything really, but we all know she's running.

So why assume Hillary is running? Afterall since she hasnt announced it, it means jackshit and shouldnt be talked abt at all.

It would be pretty surprising if Hillary didn't run. First, however, she has to win her reelection in NY this fall, which I'm sure she's paying more attention to right now.

hillary is not a good senator and has been very deceptive her whole political life - however, she is a strong candidate - i was still a NY resident when she took the senate, and watching the debates were amazing

anytime someone would mention a legitimate concern, there was backlash - how could you say that, her husband cheated on her and you are only attacking her because she's a woman

attack ads work when it's a couple guys going at it, because the public is used to watching men smack each other in the face - be careful with a female candidate, because having a man smack a woman in the face doesn't go over well

I'd hate to see her run, because it would probably make the 3rd election in a row where I couldn't bring myself to vote for either of the major two parties

I don't like biden either - i hear a lot of this guy living in wilmington & philly and I didn't like most of it

I can't think of any real strong republican candidates (although I may go McCain)

I just want a nice, moderate candidate to come along, regardless of party and end this partisan BS

I didn't say we shouldn't talk about it, all I'm saying is, FM told me that Warner is definitely running. Look back at my posts and I mentioned Warner several times, I assume he's running, just like I assume Hillary's running. But I wouldn't say that Hillary's "definitely" running, until she announces that she is.

Nitpicky, aren't we, Adam?

only cause you were.

This is a really cool board. It gives me hope for the country.

McCain can't get the nomination, but could win the election

Rudy G can't get the nomination, but could win the election

Condi probably won't run

Gingrich would probably get the nomination but not be able to win the election

Allen,Romney, Pataki or Frist can get the nomination

Only Allen or Romney can win the election

It does not matter who the Dems nominate, they will lose

Why wouldn't McCain get the nomination? He's leading most other candidates among Republicans.

I also have to disagree that Democrats will lose no matter what. I think that if the Iraq fiasco continues until the 2008 elections, it will be hard for the Republicans to keep the Presidency.

Now, if Dems nominate Hillary, then they will almost certainly lose. However, a guy like Mark Warner, if he gets enough publicity, has a very good shot at beating McCain.
