Anyone else tired of M. Night Shyamalan?

Guy knows how to keep repackaging his movies and reselling them to us.

No....I love his work.

The Village was not very good. But all of his other movies were awesome. I'm looking forward to see his new one from the best horror director there is right now.

My cuz works with Dreamworks, shes the producer of Over the Hedge. She also did Toy Story, and co produced Dances with the Wolves.

He's not a horror director. He directs suspense flicks.

Sixth Sense had scary moments, but was still more about the trick ending than actually scaring you. Unbreakable was certainly not a horror movie. Signs I guess is the "closest" he's come to horror, but even still it's not as scary as suspenseful. And the Village was just dumb and yet still merely suspense (along with Signs in my opinion).

He's more trying to do Hitchcock than what Wes Craven or Tobe Hooper do.

His plots are just really contrived at this point and he recycles a LOT of themes (fear of water, anybody?) and I would argue since Unbreakable he's been on a downward spiral. Signs was easily the worst, in my opinion, as he made space creatures capable of travelling millions of light years and yet decide to come to the one planet that is abundant with their weakness (water), which, oh YEAH, is comprised of 78% H20 and the aliens are so dumb as to not be able to figure out door handles, etc. ALL MOVIE LONG. "Ooh, so scary."

I'm not hating, I'm just really over this guy and he's starting to overstay his welcome. It just drives me nuts he gets this "OMG, genius!" acclaim in some circles.

M. Night's "twist" endings are getting tired. The Sixth Sense was decent. Unbreakable was incredible. Signs was alright. The Village...never saw it and I don't care to.

Signs had a twist ending?

Well, not really, but kind of. The main twist was the alien's weakness to water.

  • 2 weeks later...

The best of the summer crop that I have seen so far is easily 'Miami Vice':

Michael Mann just 'gets it'.

I stand corrected....

I think it's funny that the white man is looking down and the black man looking up.

RACIST!

:mischief

I dig the Superman one, but aside from in-theater trailers I haven't heard or seen JACK about this movie on the airwaves, yet. Granted, it's still a few weeks off, but usually you hear about the huge blockbusters MONTHS in advance.

Plus, the teaser trailer didn't do much for me.
