Well, this isn't really the ghetto and there's two major banks blocks away. This is beyond imaginable. I wonder what Guillen pays in service fees. Enough to cover the shop's rent I bet.

The girlfriend of Washington Nationals outfielder Jose Guillen was robbed of $12,000 shortly after cashing the player's paycheck at a small business in Northeast Washington Wednesday evening, D.C. police said today.

Police did not disclose the woman's name but said she entered the check-cashing business, Money Mart, in the 1100 block of H Street NE shortly after 5:30 p.m.

She then went to a special back room where she frequently cashes the outfielder's checks, police said.

She was given $12,000 in cash and put it in her purse, according to the police account. She was leaving the store when an unknown man approached and ripped the bag from her hands and ran out of the store, police said. She was not harmed, they added.

Washington Nationals spokeswoman Chartese Berry confirmed the woman was Guillen's girlfriend. She provided no further details.

Police urged anyone with information to call them at 202-727-9099. They offer rewards of up to $5,000 in robberies.

That stinks for them but why would she go to a check cashing store? Those places look ghetto :lol .

:mischief2 :plain

Just wow

They are for people without a bank account. You would think that Guillen would have several.

very ghetto, she could have picked a better place

This is not surpsing. In D.C. firearms are completely banned and therefore criminals are guaranteed that any potential victim will be unarmed, they can terrorize the public and commit crimes all while being guaranteed by politicians that any house they want to rob, any woman they want to rape, any victim they want to commit a crime against will be unarmed. The people of D.C. are left with no choice but to just sit back and "be a good victim."
